Any substitutes for ph up and down?

I have heard of lemon juice and fresh coffe grounds working to lower ph, and others to raise it. Any comments?

use vinegar to lower the ph, baking soda to increase it.
the trouble with these options is that they are not as strong as true ph-up and ph-down and you'll probably have to add it to your solution more often.

Isnt that backwards? Vinegar is acidic and baking soda is a base?
Yes, there are substitutes, but as DO stated, its not as good as PH up and down, as solids can create buildups.

I think he was just mistaken, at least I hope he was as this and bulb color temps are often reversed. Your ph way off or what? Depending on where you live, PH is fairly cheap.

Its HIGH, between 6.5 and 8 throught out the pot, its higher in ph the farther up, i have no money and i live in fla, and on top of it all i was fired almost a month ago and no one is hiring, FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

because it doesn't, it raises it.

Yeah everyones confused lol..... lower the ph number, the more acidic, higher the number more alkaline.
Vinegar is acidic and would lower the ph, baking soda would raise it. I wouldnt use either tho

Well i have gone on wikipedia, yahoo, google, forums up the ass and all I hear is it lowers it because of its sodium phosphate which is known to lower ph
