white vinegar will def lower ph baking soda will raise it i use phosphoric acid to lower ph. sulfuric acid or citric acid will also lower ph some poeple use miracle grow to lower ph because it uses urea nitrogen and very little ammonia nitrogen

I frequently use white distilled vinegar as a pH down (as seen on Mandala's site). It drops rapidly, so go a little at a time. If I'm up over 7.0 I'll add 5 ml per gal., then in 2.5 ml increments after that.
I usually don't need to raise it, but I have some 4-10-3 root stim. that smells like ammonia. It must be up around 12, a little can be too much.
