I have a 400 watt HPS. Can I put a metal halide bulb in there for veg? I'm not sure if it will blow up or over heat or something like that. Does anyone know? thanks.

No unless its a conversion bulb or you have a switchable ballast.

MH conversion bulbs are easy to get, any hydro store, eBay, many online vendors.
