I am just wondering if the 9 hours on --- 1 hour off --- another 9 on --- 5 hours off will b just fine because the plant will b getting a full 18hours... just in 2 intervals |

your light probably takes less than an hour or two to get it's hottest, so letting it cool after nine hours would be pointless. as long as you wired everything the correct way and the light is not on top of a pile of dry leaves it should be alright. what kind of a light is it?

Your light doesn't need a cool-down cycle, especially an hour-long one. If it's your grow space that needs a cool-down, you should redesign your grow space. More ventilation.
That said, a short dark period during "daytime" won't hurt anything, except slow growth a little. It's the dark cycle that can't be interrupted. |
