50w LED grow - Lowryder 2

I know LED isnt good for flowering, but they were givin to me, so im not to worried about it.

I have up at the moment 4 red 10w and 2 blue 5w lamps up in a make shift bubbler from a plastic coffee can and even made my own ghetto net pot. Im using the whisper 60 airpump from walmart and a cheap 5 dollar 70F water heater. The enclosure is made out of cardboard and 2mil mylar and is 15x15x36in

I have 4 more red and 2 blue LED lamps, but im thinking 100w of LEDs is a bit much, plus they wont fit.

I will be making a better bubbler soon, so no worries there.

The plant is Lowryder 2, for those that dont know it is a autoflowering strain that is fully mature from seed in roughley 66 days and producing on average 20g a plant treated right. Im just doing one now but will be running up to 6 plants and all lights if the lighting works to flower them

The lighting is kept on 24 and will be through the entire grow, I will not be switching to 12/12 becasue its not needed for these to flower. Im hoping the extra 12 hours will help it produce more through the flowerig period time will tell

I stated with only 25w until today. It was planted 1 Jan 08 and is 17 days old. Hopefully doubling the lighting will speed things up. The water ph is 6.3 and im using a organic nute set, dont remember where i got it for hydro and soil, probably not the best but will have to do for now.

moving over to the grow journal forum next post.

Just LEDs and i have the capability of going up to 100w of LEDs if 50w won't cut it either, just have to make a new enclosure.

Day 23 and hairs are out, yay 100% female germation rate!!! to bad I only planted 1.

Around day 18 had a bad nutrient burn, it burt the entire bottom leaves to all hell, so i took them off and left the less slightly damaged ones there, It wasnt really growing at all, but is definatly taking off now, seems these plants dot really startg growing to fast until they actually show sex.

PH is now in the 5.5 -5.8 range and i've switched over to a 1-5-5 bloom fert.

Dont know about LED not being able to flower plants, but look at the size of that hair, and its only 23 days in.

For size referance the hair in the closup is 1/8in shy of a half a inch long.

Starting to get fun now.

I don't prune any plants short of removing already dead leaves.

I'm a beleiver in tying down or moving fan leaves out of the way for better light penetration to flower sites. These leaves contain much energy needed for production of flower.

Though a lot of people trim/prune with no problems, (rightfully so as it doesent neccisarily harm the plant to much) I never prune my plants. I just tie the larger leaves back, or tuck them under a flower site.

So far what ive gathered with LED light is that when you are running 50w of them in a enclosure it can get warm in there. I had to take out the water heater because the heat in there was getting the water to warm, but they seem to be growing/flowering just fine. The hairs have trippled in 3 days.

I'm thinking about adding a jug of water/yeast/sugar and running a tube from the lid to the top of the enclosure in hopes it makes enough co2 to help some.

In the PH department i take well water(7.2ph) and use ph down to get it to 5.75, then I take my fert wich is like a 3.3 PH and add enough in to get it to 5.5. when it gets to 5.75+ I add in more nutes to drop it. when it gets back to 5.75+ again, I just change the nutes and start over. I dont know if this is a good method but I havent burnt it again...yet and it kind of lets me know how much nutes is in there without needing a meter.

That is pretty much what I did, if the leaf was over 50% dried I took it off.

Added in CO2

I used a recipe I saw online, 3 quarts of water, 1cup sugar and 1 tsp of yeast.

i put it in a 1gal milk jug with a line taht drops over the plant like you see in the pic below, hopefully it mkes enough co2 to make a differance.
