but i assume aluminum is more efficient

Smooth pipe is better than pipe/duct that has accordian folds in it (those folds dampen the airflow). So avoid the ducting made for your clothes dryer if possible. But between aluminum smooth pipe and plastic or pvc smooth pipe I don't think there is a meaningful difference.

well yea there bout the same. A ez quik & cheat thing to do get a box of flex duct form lowes/Homedepot it comes in 4" to 12" in 25ft boxs & is insluated and no eblows/45s required
