I would suggest u read a crap load of posts on this forum before u attempt growing but 150 watts of CFLs should be plenty for 1 plant. You can get 2 packs of 26-watt 6500K CFLs for like $6 at Walmart. 6500K for vegging, 2700K for flowering. I have heard it is better to use both spectrums for flowering...that is what I am doing. I used 24 hours light for vegging and my plants grew like crazy. A lot of people use 18 hours light 6 hours dark for vegging. 12 hours light 12 hours dark for flowering. You can't grow w/o nutes. I bought the cheapest potting soil I could get at Walmart and just pick up some Miracle Gro all purpose plant food or some Miracle Gro Tomato food and don't give them any nutes until week 2 or 3 and I would start at 1/4 strength. The Miracle Gro nutes are like $5 for a box that will last you a long time...

Do you want to grow with CFL's by choice or budget?, I would suggest at least a 400 watt HID. CFL's are ok for veg but flowering not so great. If you get a 400 watt MH for veg and a HPS conversion bulb for flower you are set. But with CFL's you may need 4-6 highest wattage you can find.

As far as light schedules: Veg 24 hrs. Flower 12/12 simple as that.

And for soil if you get a good organic based potting soil with nutrients already provided you may scrape by without needing extra nutrients, but that also depends on strain and bud density. Try some Kellogs potting soil from wal-mart it has all the needed nutrients and for 5 bucks a bag you cant beat it! that's what i use if I don't want to mix my own.

One thing to remember is growing your own supply is cheaper than buying but not exactly free and cutting corners in important areas will just result in schwagg.

No offense to any one It may just be my opinion but stay away from miracle grow and other chemical fertilizers there are many cheap organic choices available and easy to find.
