Does it matter what a seed looks like???

Can you tell me what a healthy seed looks like compared to an unhealthy seed? Is there a difference? I'm pretty sure there isn't but is there a way you can sex a plant by what a seed looks like? Any information will help. Thanks.

It's good if it's dark, with stripes. If it's white it's imature, and wont germinate.

Okay thats what I thought, and I assume if it's a black seed, its too mature or old?

The outward appearance of a seed will clue you in on the viability, that's about all. You want grey or brown seeds. It doesn't matter if they have stripes or spots or not, and it doesn't matter how big they are -- these are just genetic traits.

Stay away from white, green, or black seeds or any seed that crackles when you roll it firmly between your thumb and finger.
