Best of the White strains?

I want to grow something from the white family (ice, widow, rhino, shark, etc.), but am stumped on which to choose. anyone have any input on comparing these strains? From asking around, i'm getting the idea that the potency is plenty good enough across the board (duh), but i still have very little data on the prospective yields i could expect from these strains in comparison with eachother. so....

which one offers the most potentcy/better high?

which one is the heaviest yielder?

HELP ME DECIDE!!!

-IQ

I used to get Ice on a normal basis, all of my friends loved it.

I don't remember too much about the taste, but the high was very strong, and the smell was almost like a piercing black liqorish smell, enough to get your sniffer runny if you got allergies, haha.

Your yield is going to depend on alot of variables, but I remember reading that Chrystal was a pretty good producer. I believe that strain was NLxWW.

i'm surprised at all the good reviews i've recieved for ICE. i guess because the strain is older paired with the fact that i havn't run into it yet had led me to believe that it was a dated strain that couldn't quite keep up with the more modern white breeds.

even thought it smokes a bit harsh, i've seen ALOT of praise heaped on white rhino. one grower who got some cheap nirvana WR claimed it was the best they ever smoked and cannabible backs it up claiming that WR is among the best of the white strains out there.

to me, black russian sounds the coolest because it has a cherry cough syrup flavor and one person here said it has a trippy high which is always extra cool with me.

i'm pretty sure AK-47 is considered a white strain and that one is hugely popular. actually, it's 1/2 of black russian with blackberry being the other half. AK-47 has several phenos. the two i remember are cherry & potent.

check these sites out. there's alot of helpful reviewing between them that should help, and i can think of worse forms of homework
you can read reviews for all of the nirvana (or any other seedbank) strains here
http://www.onlinepot.org/OGStrainGui...ainsIndex.html
a search engine i created for finding specific strains here is at
http://google.com/coop/cse?cx=001728...%3Akek5zf0mvzi

another newer site with even more detailed reporting is here
http://www.weedbay.net/modules.php?m...ction=cat&id=1

this site has a fair collection of alphabetical strain reports
http://www.meduser.ca/viewall.php

and another nice resource is this one which is ALSO by seedbank. maybe i'll add it's contents to the overgrow search engine some day
http://www.marijuana-seeds.net/reports/index15.html

here's a nice site if you're more interested in pretty pictures than impartial strain reporting
https://cannabis.community.forums.oz...list.php?skin=

and many other forums have modest sized to HUGE strain reports sections that are unorganized random topics

dude that's awesome. i'm in the same boat myself- only grown a few crops, but have had my nose into the research from the beginning. i have a degree in biology with an emphasis on plant physiology, which has put me ahead of the curve so far, and allows me a little room to experiment and make adjustments with confidence. In fact, I think i'm probably one of the few people around here that actually knows HOW certain things work or WHY they don't work...reading the theories that circulate on this site as to why MJ plants do what they do can be depressing at times.

anyway, while i have the science down pat, the one thing i don't have is the years of applied experience with individual strains. i'm not a big smoker myself, and so need to rely on other's input when making decisions as to what to grow based on the merit of the strain. Keeping up with guys like yourself makes sure i get the right strains in my garden.

so, just for fun, what are some favorites of yours? anything you recommend i grow?

everybody else, keep coming with the info on the white strains, please!

well my favorite is STILL the very first thing i started out smoking... thai. after that, almost EVERYTHING is a disappointment, but i'm starting to think i was really smoking a potent mexican sativa or haze because the buds were pinecone scented like descriptions i've read for strains with mexican sativa genetics like senor garcia & love potion #1. regardless, it was potent and extra trippy but only couchlocked if you smoked it all day.

after indicas invaded, i hated every bud i ever bought sadly. i did TONS of research (often like trying to pull teeth as 99% of growers ignore smoke reports or give shitty vague ones like the ever dreaded "best shit i ever smoked!"

all of the grow tech & breeding reading i did actually dates back to the mid 80s when i started masturbating to the idea of DIY out of disgust with couchlock. alot of my tech knowledge is out of date and faded memories there. i'm just now doing homework on sea of green to get back up to speed on my soon to be grow.

i'd HIGHLY recommend you get some kali mist if you're looking for a special strain. it wasn't trippy like "thai" but it was super energetic & euphoric like shrooms with a huge dose of caffeine, but without the jitters. i tried to listen to tunes on it, but it wouldn't let me sit still. it's rumored to be a favorite with the ladies and it's definately what i'd bring on a date as all that happy energy needs an outlet... right? oh, it also has a delicious flavor exactly like crushed red pepper. i'm planning on using a male in my 2nd breeding session to create a spicy curry flavor, hopefully with cali-o. kali mist is 87.5% sativa though, so it likes to stretch a bit

if you like the taste of black licorice (i hate it), durban poison is awesome. the taste gave me dry heaves, but the high nearly brought a tear to my eye as it was also anti-couchlock which i'd missed a good 15 years before i was tossed a bud. it's pretty compact for a "pure sativa" too, but it sure looks like an indica to me. the taste is totally authentic which is either good or bad depending on whether you like licorice or not.

i'm MOST excited to try my C99 splash beans though. cinderella grows very compact and quick, but has a speedy & trippy high even including paranoia which is exactly the kind of high i love like thai. it has a pineapple flavor and a stealthy floral odor. almost everyone i asked tried to steer me towards skunky super silver haze, but i hate indicas so much that just smelling like one is a crime to me. SSH & jack herer are totally related and are allegedly related to cindy too.

C99 has also been compared to super popular sour diesel which supposedly tastes better, but i just can't wrap my head around fuel flavor and that one gets stinky too.

i also have some (LH X A11g) X A11g i'm excited to try too. apollo 11 is C99 crossed with the genius pheno of jack herer and mine has 25% of extra trippy pure sativa vietnamese lien huanh. A11 is also compact & stealthy, but it's mellower and more euphoric than C99 without the paranoia, but is still trippy. i can't wait to try that.

sadly, i've hated 99.9999999999999999999999999999999% of the bud i've smoked and wouldn't touch a white strain because i hate indicas. i'd definately recommend you get something with a sativa high to contrast your white strain. chances are most of your friends have never even smoked one, so you'd definately surprise them with durban poison or trippy C99.

for what it's worth, here's everything i have that's just waiting for me to buy lights and build supports for them.

after i do these, i can give much more info on named strains, but these are the ones that most appealed to me for either being sativa dominant, hybrid, but clear headed and/or being tasty eg. buddha's sister's tart cherry flavour sounds delicious. ALOT of people LOVE potent blueberry, but that's another disgusting flavor to me. you might consider that one, it's a bigtime crowd pleaser.

it's funny you mention hating indicas, as i too tend to despise them for the most part. back in the day i thought it was just because i didn't like pot, but after i smoked a little sativa i realized that my lack of interest was do mostly to the mental cloudiness/physical sluggishness indica brings- i like the alert, physchadelic sativa highs that are hard to find.

it is also funny you mention c 99 splash, as half of my garden this coming term (the half that isn't occupied by a white strain) is going to be pure cinderella 99- i hear she's got an awesome buzz, and i can't wait.

and holy crap man, but where did you get all those seeds? how long you been collecting? why are you just starting now?

also, what's your grow op gonna be looking like? i'm curious to know your plan of attack, and would totally be down to give you some input (like i said, only been growing MJ for a couple years now, but have been growing plants in general indoors for AWHILE)

i've been collecting since last year. first i bought the nirvana strains & mixed sativa from gypsy and C99 splash at docs. i started growing them under my shoplight as i'd done before with bagseed (i used to have some freakin' AWESOME mexican commercial strains) but as before, fell victim to the "i want smoke now" syndrome and turned to taking daily leaflet trim until my plants stressed out and died.

the SADP x skunk #1, troublemaker & lowdown mystery were all freebies.

soon after i got my first 2 batches of beans, i was so excited, i bought the A11g & haze skunk, especially because that was when spice brother's beans started disappearing and i wanted to get something with more extra trippy vietnamese lien huanh genes than C99 splash before it disappeared. C99 splash is supposed to be so similar to pure C99 that it can fool an expert accorcing to the description. it has been backcrossed to C99 several generations.

earlier this year, i dug out my old shroom spores, but they don't look healthy anymore, so i splurged on some kali mist which i'd always intended on growing eventually for it's yummy crushed red pepper flavor and awesome energetic euphoria that's alot like shrooming.

finally, recently, i just got sick and tired of never really doing a full grow and made up my mind that i was going to finally go for it. i'd been planning (read: jerking off) my grow all the way back to last year and decided that i wanted another trippy strain for cindy and something with an awesome fruity flavor and wouldn't like blueberry, so i finished up ordering the burmese and buddha's sister. i wanted at least one other "high end" strain to contrast kali mist instead of more knockoffs.

maybe i don't have a finished grow under my belt, but at least i CAN get a bit of bean envy posting my seed collection. between all of those strains, SOMETHING is going to have to turn out awesome with a C99 male and then with a kali mist male next time out don't ya think?

in particular, i'm hoping that C99 X kali mist turns out to be mega-spectacular. i don't see why no-one has ever created a strain with KM before. it's really special. i'm hoping that C99 will bring KM's height down and raise it's trippiness level and that KM's euphoria tones down C99's paranoia and that pinepple & red pepper makes for a delicious "spicy curry" flavor. if nothing else, i'll have a nice sized collection of unique strains to test and report back on down the road.

as much as i've been disgusted with almost everything i've smoked except thai, kali mist & durban poison (hate the flavor there though) i want multiple options to find out what strains are keepers.

i was also thinking of trying to turn cali-o towards sativa, but keep the orange flavor if possible using lemony sativas. kali mist & cali-o is another spicy flavor combo i have high hopes for too.

i just got the collection buying a couple strains here and a couple there for a year and most of them were dirt cheap knockoffs or freebies.

the only strains i paid more than $30 for were
A11g @ $50-$60
kali mist @ $100 and totally worth it
burmese @ $55
&
buddha's sister @ $100 because i love the taste of artificial cherries and wanted a top of the line flavor strain. i'm guessing that the nirvana ones won't be as good as the real deals as they breed their strains with skunk #1 and possibly northern lights #5 thus diluting them.

i tell you though, having just seeds without any plants isn't as fun as it sounds. it's a huge tease knowing they're there doing nothing. i only have 3 C99 splash beans left too and 5 or less of more than 1/2 of the rest.
