hps fixture and ballast...

So craigslist always has lights for sale for really cheap. My question is.....

I see a 1000W Fixture, bulb and ballast for $150. Decent price, but if I wanted to switch out the bulb with MH, can I use that bulb in this fixture or does it take another fixture and ballast?

Kinda confused......
