So yes. They are ready to be harvested.

I would personally (and this is just from the pictures obviosly i cant see them threw the microscope) probabally let them go at least 7-10 days more. Looks like lots of white hairs and new growth but just my own opinion.

Damn those are some nice looking buds.. Nice grow. I am on my first grow myself so I cant give any imput if they are ready or not, but I would personally leave them for a couple more days, the leaves still have some green to them, let them dry up a bit.

Take a bud.
Dry the bud.
Smoke the bud.
Did it get you sufficiently high? If the answer is yes, time to harvest.

That's awful advice to take a bud and dry it then smoke it!! What does it take, at least 5 days (at the extreme least) for a bud to be dry enough to smoke and that's not including the cure time. If you smoke it before any cure takes place you'll have no idea if the pot even tastes ripe.

So by the time you're all done with that stuff, it all ready has been at the least 10 days. Which is a big difference in ripeness, which in turn makes the process you just went through a complete waste of time and energy and tells you nothing.

And don't microwave or anything dumb to speed the dry up, takes away from the potency dramatically!! Sorry for the drawn out reply, kinda baked right now.

Wow...Really?

For a sample bud, I take a bud...Put it in an oven that has been heated to 150 degrees f then turned off, and leave it for about 10 minutes.

Sure, the taste will be crap but potency will be just fine, imho.

Now I realize it's "awful advice", according to you...But I and many other growers have been doing it for years and it's worked just fine and dandy for sampling buds, thank you very much.

It won't do a damn thing to the potency, as long as you don't let it get hotter than 150 degrees or so...

I also don't agree that a cure is essential. If you aren't heavy with the nutes and flush well before harvest...

But hey...What do I know? I'm an administrator at another cannabis forum (have been for 5 years), been growing since the 80's...I'm sure you're right.

Oh, here's a couple other people that follow that "awful advice"

just because you sample the bud and it's dank doesn't mean it finished. Trichromes are the only real way to tell if a bud is at its max potency.

But it's all a matter of individual taste. Only you can say when the bud is where you want it to be for whatever reason (couchlock, headhigh, etc).

There is no "magical" time to harvest every strain for every toker. Some folks harvest when the trichomes are 80/20 cloudy/amber...Some like no amber at all. Some like clear and cloudy, and it all changes depending on the strain as well.

That's why the question of "when to harvest" can only be answered by the individual that is going to be smoking the bud and imho the easiest and quickest way to find that out is to quick dry a sample, whether the quick dry is done by oven, microwave (yuck, but my personal opinion), food dehydrator or setting it on top of your computer monitor.
