I have actually tried growing three times now. So far, after about 10 days the bottom set of leaves look to have PH burning, then slowly turn yellow, dieing. After 3 or 4 more days, it attacks the next set of leaves. It kills at the same rate it builds a new set.

When I first started, I bought Scotts Premium Potting Soil.

A portion of the nitrogen, phosphate, and potash sources have been coated to provide .03% coated slow-release nitrogen (N), 0.002% coated slow-release available phosphate, and 0.01% coated slow-release potash.

This is what I was worried about, so for 2 grows I attempted to use this soil.--Same problems.

Now, the third grow. I went out to the forest behind my house and got a whole bunch of dirt from out there. I took a PH run, it appeared to be around 6.0, slightly low, but the water I used is also 6.0.

The first set of leafs have already been taken under by the "plague." Black dots randomly appear, yellowing of the leaves (from tips to middle).

damn.. you think of using gallon jug water from the store?

What EC is your nutes at? All you're giving them is NPK? No micronutrients? Whats your nute setup? Yellowing tips could also be a Nitrogen deficiency or chemical burn hell or heat stress. More details re: your setup might help.

Its your soil! Never, ever use pe-ferted or time-released or slow release ferted soil.
