envirolites or HPS?

Ive started a grow about a month ago with a bunch of 26w CFLs. Anyway, I was considering what to do once I get to the flowering stage. I was considering a 150 or 250w HPS system until I recently discovered envirolites. My main concern is wiring of a ballast and such with an HPS. Im not really electrically inclined, although Im sure I could figure it out given directions... However, envirolites seem more convenient and cheaper. Also I'm in the US (Northeast) and don't really know where/how to get them. As far as I understand theyre self-ballasted so should just screw into whatever light fixture I have now?

any input or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks guys

Go with the 250 HPS, wiring for the most part is connecting the red wire to the red wire and the white wire to the white wire and green to green, as the ad "goes so simple even a caveman can do it". By the way I had one of the high output CFLs(envirolites) no they don't just screw into a regular light socket, you still need a reflector to get the most efficient use out of them and cost wise what little you save on initial purchase price you'll lose on yield 3 times over. But that's my opinion.

Cfl's (envirolite included) are best to use in veg. Nothing compares to an HID (HPS) in flowering. 250 HPS would be best, i suggest u look up high tech garden supply. They are based near Pittsburg. They have good systems with very good prices, already wired. Not much more than u would pay for an unwired system. They also usually have specials where the 400w hps sysetm is about $10 more than the 250w hps (probably $130 with shipping). Goodluck with whatever u decide to do

I originally planned to use envirolites (2 x 125w) for a lowryder grow and I was less than impressed.

They are great lights for veg, mothers, clones etc.

But when it comes to flowering if you want some bud density get a HPS and you won't be dissapointed.

PS I've never wanted to wire one either and they have always done it for me, a number of times.

Ok, thanks alot for the input guys. I'll continue to look into the HPS and such. For my next grow, whenever that might happen, I'll probably just upgrade from 26w to 42w for vegging.
