4 days..hasnt broken soil

Am i being impatient

Or

Am i right for thinking the potting soil i'snt allowing any oxygen to the roots, also when a germinated seed is planted is it necessary to have 24hr light if so that may also be the problem

How did you start this out?

Did you just plant some seeds in soil and then put them under light?

1st i germinated all the seeds i then got a empty egg cart and filled each section where the eggs would go with regular potting soil(i didn't mix it with anything) i then covered it with a clear plastic wrap to keep the moisture in and put it under lights.

i was told the lights aren't really important until it breaks soil

now it is the 4th day, I've turned the light off should i keep it under 24hr light until it break soils? or is it true that it really doesn't matter about the light until it breaks soil

It's true that you don't need light, but you do need warmth. Try keeping them in a cabinet above the stove

Sounds like the germination went fine. Here's the method I've used various times with high success rates.

1. Take your seeds, lay them out on the table. Push down on them with your thumb just to the point where your thumb hurts. If the seed cracks, it was never good to begin with.

2. Take the good seeds and put them between two moist sheets of paper towel, and into a plastic baggie, into a dark warm place.

3. When the seed cracks (this could take 24 hrs could take 2 weeks), use tweezers to pick em up and put them into your grow medium. Cover with 1/2 inch.

4. Put them in a dark, warm place. Light discourages rooting and should be avoided at all costs in the beginning.

5. The seeds should sprout. With the absence of light, you'll have tiny white plants. Once you see the two circular false leaves, apply light at 18/6 schedule. You need the night (at least 6 hours) to establish healthy roots.

6. Upon applying light, plants should green up and start to grow.

Note: during all steps, keep the medium moist with dehumidifier, or rain water. Tap water has additives. However, you can let tap water sit over night, and the additives will evaporate.

I use purified water all the way through my grows.

I have a dehumidifier.
