First Grow Pics - What do ya think?

Here are some pics of my first grow. The largest one is about 3 weeks old. Looks like there is a little yellowing in certain spots - what are your thoughts? Any advise would be helpful. They look a little small to me, but it's my first grow, so dunno.

Currently using 100w cfl. Just ordered a T8 Fluro Grow Light and it should be in within the next couple of days. Can't wait.

What type of soil are you using?

It was some kind of organic soil - not Miracle Grow. Sorry don't remember the name of it. I just gave it some fert. on Sunday - very little. The fert was Miracle Grow all Purpose. Used 1/2 tsp in 2 qts. of water (didn't use all the water though - just enought to get them a little wet). Do they look sick?

They dont look too bad, but dont give them any ferts until week 4, especially if your soil already has nutes in it, which I hope it does not. Could be responsible for your yellowing, they look a little stretchy also, but not too bad.

If I could ask just a couple more questions:

- How fast should these baby's be growing? It looks as if they are kind of small for being 3-4 weeks old. I currently have (3) growing with each one having a 100watt cfl light on it - again, my new T8 grow light is on it's way. I'll use that in conjunction with the CFL's I'm currently using.

- I haven't tested the ph yet. Do I have to use the run off water to test it? I just watered them on Sunday, so I won't be able to test that way until another few days.

They are small for their age, and I believe its due to the lighting, but thats just my opinion, once you upgrade, you should see it really go i think.

As far as the PH goes, yes you want to test the runoff. Do you use 24 hour old tap or distilled? Make sure you have a liquid ph kit and not a soil kit.

Thank you so much for your help. I will post pics in another few days, after I get the ph tested and get my new light set-up. I will be using the ph strips that are used for a fish tank - not a soil ph tester.

Not a big fan of the strips as it can be hard to tell, but good luck.
