One 42w CFL for one plant should be fine... for now. I've been growin' under CFL for 3 years with great results. Flowering is where you just won't have enough light to produce much more than very spindly, airy, mini-buds (you'll need 2-3 more of those 42 watters at least for one plant - still not a lot, but enough to get results). Daylight Cfl would usually be written right on the box, so I would guess that you've got soft white (which runs at 2700k, while the daylight is at 6500k usually)... the color temp should written somewhere on the package.
If you can manage picking up a daylight Cfl or two, you'll get much better results during the veg phase. Don't forget to keep the plant close to the lights and watch those temps. Hope that all made sense!
