To properly water your plants you should have water seaping out the bottom, its called run-off and is what you need to check. Also, if the run off is light yellow thats ok but if it is medium to dark it is indicates to much nutrient. Yeah that could be nute burn, but like toasy said need to check the pH. Infact, your pH is the first thing you should always check when you see a problem with your plant.

Ok, I stopped giving them ferts and I am planning on going out to buy a soil meter soon (life is kinda crazy right now, I'm about to leave the country for a week to do some relief work). That makes me feel better about the drainage water. I would say that it's a light to medium yellow, though I haven't checked it for a few days and since I stopped giving it ferts maybe it is more of a light yellow now.

Any ideas on the bugs?

I could really use some help with these bugs....is it something that I should be worried about? Or are they probably harmless? Also, is there a chance that they could be the cause of the yellow spots? It looks to me like they are fruit flies, at least they are that size. However, I didn't notice them at all in the apartment until I started growing.

We noticed on our plants once that the yellow spots were from over watering. As for the bugs. Fruit flies? I know that we had a reg. house fly and it liked our plants..
