| Is this a good system?
I plan on growing a feminized strain of white widow with this. Is there anything else that I would need to buy or know before I start. http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/pr...xProd=2&xSec=2 |

I agree with the others about that system. You can build a much better hydro system for less. If you want a working store bought system, take a look at this unit: ![]() This unit sells for $50. I have grown using this set-up. They are basic and work great for what you plan to grow. One plant per bucket might be a set-back for you but they work great placed in a series. So as you get better and save money, you can add more units to your hydro garden. It also expands to a real cool pro grow: ![]() Then you need lights and ballast. The florescent lights from the ad at Stealth Hydro you posted will have a tuff time growing four plants. You can get florescent lights at Homedepot or EBay and still have money left over. I would go with some real lamps and give mom and dad the $10. I have found this place that has the best prices on cool tubes. Maryland Hydroponics has cool-tubes for $59 (last month they had um for $49, I bought two). <CENTER> You can also add a digital ballast and bulb at the same place but you will be over your original budget: Lumatek Digital Ballast Wattage : 400/120 Cord Set : YES Reflector : 19 Inch Cool Tube Internal Reflector 6 Inch Diameter Bulb : Standard 400 HPS Warranty : 4 YEAR Total price: $239.01 Most hydro shops will charge you $239 for that ballast alone (thats a damn good ballast). I like the digital ballast because they can use both MH and HPS bulbs. You can also find an all in one HPS lamp for under $50 bucks on EBay (search "bay HPS"): The ballast is hooked to the lamp. All you need is a bulb (they sell them at Homedepot for $22). This cheap lamp will yeild you 10X the amount of bud then the two small florescent lamps shown in that add you posted. I started growing with this same lamp. I took off the reflector, removed the mogal from the ballast, attached it to an extension cord and bolted it to a cool tube. It was a great remote ballast with the addition of a $7 extension cord. It can be used as-is but they tend to make lots of heat. I grew one complete grow with that funny hood in place. Hope this has helped, R. |

DEFINETLY helped. Thanks alot. I think I'll probably buy a pair of HPS lights off eBay then get a cool tube and I think at least for my first attempt I'm just gonna go soil.
