Please help me sort symptom not cause of problem...

hi folks,
thx for advice in advance...

cause of problem is known! ... me! a dopey stonehead...

some of you may have seen my grow thread the ultimate closet grw...(now deleted)..

..anyway all was going well, as i had done in previous grows (tho still a noobish grower) with my sativa dominant plants, until i had my concerns about late flowering..
this strain in the past i found to be a late developer, with most bud forming in the last few weeks, but this seemed slower than before. by week 3-4 i was double checking lights were coming on / going off at the right time etc.. tho i kept telling myself im being impatient... until i visited a friend with the same strain at the same week of flower (was week 4-5 at this point) and WOAH... i realize i definitely got a problem.. so back to the grow.. and then i realise (OH SHIT) that a couple of the little timer notches have somehow been knocked in and the light has been coming on right in the middle of the dark period for 1/2 hour.....

worse... this must have been happening since the start of 12/12

so situation was this.
2 weeks veg in ScroG
switch to flower "12/12" (tho not)
5 weeks 12/12 with 1/2 hour light in middle of dark period.

so in effect i think?? 7 weeks veg??

and what i need to know is... how much more they gonna stretch, seeing as they've only just been put 12/12 proper.??
they are already taller than they would have been and i havnt got much more height!!

i know people can tell me just bend over... but its not so easy, because of the training out in screen i got so many "main stems" there just isnt space.. trust me i will do all the bending or trimming as necessary to finish these out..

i just wanted to get an idea of the sort of extra stretch i might expect, now they stand at 4-5 foot from top of hydro tray??? i know sativas can gey way taller??? if i were to expect a further double in size this would be a problem....

i didnt really wanna top all them lovely looking heads..

any other techniques for stopping further height??

and ideas or suggestions welcome...

peace

If you are going to do all the bending and trimming you can then that is already the best way to address this. You can snip the very tip-top of the buds, some say this will cause them to grow out more and stop growing up. But upward stem growth may not slow down.

What you may have to worry about now more than anything is the stress effects your plants may suffer -- hermies, poor bud production, lowered potency, prone to disease, etc.

Good luck.

thxs toastie..

they all look healthy at the mo..

grow space bursting at seams. in a way i still like to see so much green... but just too much here..

i dont know weather to cut top 2-3 foot off everything,

or thin out- cutting away the lesser stems, leaving 1 main stem for each plant (7) then with more space i could do more effective bending

i would love to hear (then see) that they will stop theyre stretch now, maybe just a few inches maybe a foot more... and this i could deal with minimum fuss, but i fear these things would reach the moon given a chance
