Fox Farm Ocean Mix

Can I use this soil from seed to finish? Cus I am having rather bad luck with the my seedlings and the soil they are in now. Plus i'm ordering a 400W hps in a little bit and I should go ahead and get the soil with the light.
Thanks

foxfarm ocean forrest has nutes in it, which is not recommended for seedlings. nutes/ferts are not required in any way until they are roughly three weeks old. you may not have a problem with it. my first two grows i used miracle grow time release nute soil (50/50 with plain top soil) and had no problems but so many people have had so many problems with ferted soil and seedlings it'd be wise to buy a bad of organic soil to start them in. just my .02 though. good luck for sure though.

Ocean forrest is fine for seedlings. Just don't give them any ferts until like 5-6 weeks after they sprout. I have used it all the way through my grow. I haven't had any problems.

Fox Farm Light Warrior is awesome for seedlings. It will not burn them. I have read posts where people have different results with Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Some people don't have any problems and others burn their seedlings. I use Light Warrior until my plants are about 3 or 4 weeks old and then I transplant into Ocean Forest. If you decide to use Light Warrior you will need to feed 1/4th strength Fox Farm Grow Big at about 10-14 days.

Good luck.

I plant clones and seeds in a 3 part fox farm ocean mix, 1 part vermiculite, 1 part perlite, 1 part coco coir or peat moss. This lightens up the soil a little bit and "dilutes" the nutrients it has in it.

It also makes the Fox Farm soil fill alot more pots, which is nice because its alot more expensive than the other ingredients.

The good thing about starting with Ocean Forrest is that you don't need to use a veg fert, unless it really calls for some. All you gotta do is give it water and light. Nothing else.

Thank you all for the great responses. Problem is, is that I have roughly 200$ to spend on a 400W+soil+other basic needs, and foxfarm is like 23$ for 1 bag or soil...ouch.

I'm about a month into my grow and I've been using FF Ocean from the beginning. Planted seeds straight into the soil and haven't used any nutes, just straight water.

Here's a shot from yesterday

They should be much bigger than that for a month old. What light are you using; what is your temperature/humidity; and are you watering with pH adjusted water?

If you are using fluoro lights, then they need to be within 2 inches from the top of your plants.

They are day 28 since sprout. Temperature is pretty steady at around 75 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity is right around 32%. All water to this point has been bottled water but I'm going to start using some PureBlend Pro Grow at 1/4 strength with the next watering.

I've got 14,400 lumens in the canopy and another 22,400 lumens in side lighting.

I'm not that worried about the growth, they are incredibly bushy. Normally I run the canopy about 2" above the plants. I'm raising it up for a few days to encourage the new growth to stretch a little so I can fin/top. Once I've got that done, I'll drop the lights back down.

I plan to veg for probably another 4 weeks before switching to 12/12. I'll also be switching out a bunch of the 6500K bulbs for 3000K at that time.
