My Progress Using CFL's!!

Hey everybody. I am now 9 months into my CFL growing experiment. My first 4 months was spent learning and growing some really bullshit bagseed schwag weed.

But after I got a sweet batch of train wreck that had hermie'd right at the end, I now have 16 sweet, luscious plants of the finest growing beautifully. All are females too, i.e. bagseed had to be from hermaphrodite which occurred toward the end of the growers cycle. No way to explain 100 percent female ratio of 16 plants.

They are all thriving in my CFL setup, which includes flowering and vegetative chambers.

See my channel at youtube to see for yourselves:

YouTube - Kanaal van doejohn779

There you shall find my CFL grow videos and the challenges I've faced and the hurdles I've finally cleared, including spider mites (use hot shot hands down) and heat and over fertilization to name a few. Watch them and see how bad I started to compared where I am at now and if you have questions leave a comment or private me on here.

PPP to all you GC folks!

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Hey Grasscity!

I started a CFL grow about a month ago in soil. so far the plant is 14inches high looking good, but i was vegging it under 2 softwhite CFL and 2 Daylight CFL 25watters. My question is should i take the soft white cfls out? would they trigger early flower even though its on a 18/6 light rotation(veg), would they do any harm? Just wondering if i have anything to worry about by keeping the softwhite's amongst the daylights during veg stage.

If anyone could lend some info it would be a great help.

THX!

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Yep, we got them here too, I am using one in the middle of my 4 plants to light the bottoms nd sides. Have you use any of these before and if so how and what kind of results?

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

just to put this out there, I am about to start a new cfl grow, I got 2 105w for veg and 2 105w for flowering off of ebay for 130 which includes shipping. Total 420 total cfl watts. Will post later as it grows. Thanks for the great cfl info too.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Hey kamel! Been reading your thread and it's helped a lot but I'm still stuck on a few things. I was thinking about getting 4 65k bulbs and 2 35k for veg. Would that work? There are a lot more questions in my journal if you or anyone could take a look it'd be appreciated link is in my sig thanks!

-Cheers

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

So why does the first poast say that one 26w is good for one plant early in the post, then at the end it says that 100w is good per plant.

I'm assuming thats the real wattage and wattage equivilant, but it actually states that thats not the case.

Talking Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Check out my first CFL grow pictures
I'm thinking that CFL is far more superior with quality radiation then HPS.
And the LED technology is crap and expensive for now. Only fine NASA LED's are worth investing.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

hey guys i have a quick question. would 2 24' fluorescent tubes, at 6500k be okay for vegging 3 seedlings?

i have these same exact ones, only the color spectrum is daylight as i said, 6500k. https://www.blocklighting.com/p-4509...-lighting.aspx

thanks

I think you would get better results with T-5 Fluoros. but 2x24 is quite enough for veging.
Still the veging will be much slower. But since you are flowering at least 2 months this is enough time to veging your clones.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

I would not do that. I tried growing and vegging with 4X24 flouros and it did not work. I looked at getting high out-put flouros (not sure what they are called) and realized that CFLs were a better option. I would seriously consider CFLs over 24 inch tubes. The bulbs themselves are more expensive but you can use existing light fixtures and splitters to put many of them around your plants.

Good luck.

Unhappy Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

New to this forum/growing,never used any board before so not sure how to post, hopefully "reply" is OK to use when requesting advice, if not please direct me.
I have one jack the ripper/c-99 plant (so I am told) I grew her from seed and she has been through some stress,I think she is doing well considering BUT with little funds to work with only recently bought FF tiger and grow, she was planted 8/31 in FF ocean forest, experimented a little with a manure tea for nutrition but stopped as I am just guessing. Will start at where I am now instead of writing all the specifics unless that would be helpful.. As of 10/31 she was under 2/48 in 32w Phillips day deluxe T8 F.tubes 2800 Lum/6500K with shop reflector. 3/100w equivalent (120v,23w,2700k) ecosmart soft white CFL screw in @ 1600 Lum ea.only understood "equivalent" recently so hope what I have is OK. Had foil up,took down as she is in a white closet. First FF nutes added 11/19 4am I used full strength grow 1 tsp to 1 gal but should probably decrease to half strength, also turned off the 3 100w.cfl fearing to much light so she is only under tube lights. My girl (such a fighter) is 26 inches tall, space is apx. 195 sq.feet, temps range from 75-80,hum.50-60% live alone with lots of space so I keep the bedroom door to her closet room open, circulation should be good. I fear she needs to flower soon and feel confused about lighting her for that stage since there is an abundance of info out there, eventually I will get G.greens book but cannot at this time.
My main question is can I flower her without a hps or mh bulbs, H.depot has them but no ballasts to go with them and I do not quite understand electricity issues and fear burning my house down. Can i use screw in cfl's maybe even what I have to flower her or what would you recommend and when since she only recently had grow nutes and is almost 3months old. Hopefully I made some sense, communicating face to face is easier for me LOL Attached pics of her BEFORE light change she is only under tubes at this time, did I do the right thing by turning off other cfl's? Forget the pics attachment will not drop down and insert image asks for http, pics are on desktop. UGG-maybe I just have no clue how to insert pics *sigh* Please help!! This is giving me a migraine LOL BTW 18/6 cycle. snapped top off, put honey on end and stuck in ff soil, she is alive and well so far.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

You can use cfl to flower. I haven't used cfl's so I can't direct you as to whether that's going to be enough wattage or not, but colorwise you'd want to use the soft white light (3500 or 2700k)
