Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

I would like to add and i personally have experimented, I is better to use the standard size cfls over the large cfls. My reason being is that im a scrogger and you can use smaller cfls to spread out more light, there is poor lighting with the larger cfls for only having it directly over the center of the plant. i know you use reflectors and all but there is a much smaller range of light with a 200 watt cfls than there would be if you used like 8 25 wat cfls. Unless you bought a butt load of the big ones.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Hey I have no problem finding the cfl bulbs but where can you find cheap light sockets or mounts to hook it up to? I'm not trying to buy a lamp for every bulb i want to hook up. I need something that is cheap and adjustable.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Around 6500k for veg, around 2700k for flower.... this i can find with cfls but if I do end up using MH and HPS the bulbs are 1000Watt Metal Halide 3700K and 1000Watt HPS 2100K, and I guess the 2100K HPS is fine for flowering but 3700K MH is no where near 6500K so am I just looking at the wrong bulbs? i couldn't find a 6500K MH 1000Watt bulb.

If you don't mind a little wiring I found sockets for like around 2 bucks at Home Depot or Lowes. You have to buy a cord to wire them into, unless you have something you can sacrifice for the cause. The cords are like anywhere between 2-6 bucks at the same place and should all be right in the same section. You can wire three lights to each cord and it doesn't reduce the brightness of the lights, but I wouldn't push it with more then three per cord. And remember use wire nuts not electrical tape. Hope that helps

get a work light they're like 6$ a piece at home depot
they have 2 larger sizes too that are like 8$ and 10$

then you have a reflective backing if you choose or you can take it off
it comes with an adjustable clamp and a 3-6 foot cord

I bought clamp lights, they sell them at lowe's, and wal-mart, I'm sure Home Depot has them too. They have a big metal reflector on them, it seems like they might give off heat but with the cfl's they aren't too bad, just keep a fan on it and they'll stay cool. The light can be clamped onto anything sturdy and can be bent and adjusted any direction you want. My plants are only a couple weeks old so I just have the light clamped onto the side of their buckets. Oh and they only cost about $7 a piece. I have 5 of them plus a regular lamp, but I want to get more.

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

Yea those are some beautifull plants my mann.. congrats. I was just wondering does anyone know if a 45 watt but delivers 200watts and light output 3000 lumens -cool white with a 23w equivalent to a 150w distributing something like 1600 lumens good for just one plant. Im starting to believe a cool white isnt a wise choice when it comes to growing concidering all the info i find speaks about a soft white or daylight cfl. But I already bought the light so im hopping it'll be fine?

Re: Kamel's CFL Guide

This is fantastic. Thanks for your advice! I originally was using soft white CFLs, not really realizing I could find better. After looking around, I finally found some called Daylight 200 that are 42w, 6500k and put out 2800 lumens each. So far, I've only had 2 of them on my plant, and it's made a WORLD of difference. It's growing much faster, fuller, better color and better smell. I plan to get at least one more to help cover a larger area. This is my first grow ever, so I don't really know what to expect, but your advice has definitely helped a lot so far. Thanks!
