| I use 24/7 for first two weeks then switch to 18/6 for however long I want to veg then stay on 12/12 all the way until harvest.

| Re: Kamel's CFL Guide
If you have the same lumens and the same spectrum whats the difference. Its just easier to get more lumens with an hps. Ive also read that in a small grow cfls are more efficient watt for watt but once you hit a certian number Hps comes out on top. I dont remember where that post was but it seemed like the guy did his research. If you use google to search this forum you might find it gc's search engine isn't very powerful. To search just grasscity type site:http://forum.grasscity.com/ in the search form add a space then enter your search as normal. Google reports 1,420,000 unique pages on gc wow that cant be right. iv got a 130W cfl hanging over my plant and 2 20W cfls lighting the sides. before i got the 130W there wasnt a whole lot of growth and was having to put the plant in the sun for as long as i could. you may also need a fan if you have cfls all around your plant.......they dont put out much heat but in a small place and lots of heat sources. it tends to heat up a bit. hope that helps you out good luck

I am building a room that is 4' long 3(1/2)' wide and 8' high. I was thinking of making two grow areas, Veg room 3' high, and flowering 5' high, all dimensions the same. Was thinking for three plants in each room I would need 8 42w cfls to give just a little over 100wtts for each plant. Does this sound reasonable? I will be doing hydro grow. Hoping to get a decent yield.

okay i didn't read through all 11 pages so excuse me if this question has already been addressed. am i correct in saying with CFL's you give them 24/7 light throughout the entire grow? as opposed to 18/6 veg and 12/12 flowering with other bulbs?
