if you are using cfls you can make a very cheap fixture using a 2x4. you first need to go to a hardware store like lowes and buy fixtures... they make cheap fixtures for like 2 buck or something, these fixtures should be flat on the bottom. you then drill holes in the board to run wires to the top side of the board where all you need to do is wire the system together... just make sure not to put to many bulbs into a circuit then simply wrap the bottom of the board in mylar or tin foil for reflective purposes and there you go... we made two of these that hold four bulbs each for under 100 bucks

What do you CFL'ers now about these bulbs.
saw it at home depot. 24" CFL for plants apparentyl. draws 27 watts.

suppose to imitate sunlight or better. little bit duller than my daylight 6500 k CFL ge socket.

I'm not the expert or anything, just my opinion based on things I've read here and about...

But I don't think just 1 of those, is gonna be enough. Maybe 2 or 3 next to eachother would be, though.

I know that higher wattage is always better, but anything above about 26w is usually fine, if you have enough of them. Daylight CFLs are pretty awesome for growing, so I'd imagine daylight tubes are similar in spectrum.

I don't really know how this all applies to tube-florescent though... So it might be best to wait for other opinions...

its going along with 50 blue LED lamp, 2 27 watt CFLs[6500k], and possibly another one when my babies get more bossy.

some azn place nearby has 5 20W Softwhite CFLs for 1$.....brand is optolights or something like that

Hello,

I see a some pretty nice fixtures people are using. I am interested in picking up something during Veg with multiple sockets for CFL bulbs. Or at least simple fixtures for single bulbs. I want to start off with 4 plants can someone make an affordable recommendation please.

xamountofpills yeah it'll take a little longer to get the same size in veg as say a MH light, but the flowering time won't change vs HPS, just size of buds. But again, that all depends on how you use your light.

what do u think is the bests confuguration to have them?

i was thinking of scrog'ing the plant ant having two above and one under the canopy so the stem get plenty of light when bidding.

so i read that soft white CFLs are suposed to be for flowering stage. i got my sprouts under 2 32watt soft white CFLs with reflectors. is that bad? i didnt see any daylight spectrum at ace hardware where i bought them. i did however see warm white 32 watts. are those better for vegetative stage?

ok guys what's up man i am on my second crop of growing the first ones got to big for cfls so i put them in the wood. Well the new plants i have already identified 2 as males and killed them, but i still can't see any buds on the females and i have had them 12hron 12hr of for a while. can someone plz help me
