my plant is 12 inches tall, and has 6 nodes. 7 and 8 are forming and the leaves on those are like an inch long right now. i'm gonna transplant it into a bigger pot in the next couple days, and in two weeks i am moving it indoor.

i plan to buy 2 clamp lights, and have them both on the plant. inside of a closet with sliding doors. would it be alright to have the closet cracked open with a fan inside to circulate air? i hear any little glimpse of extra light during 12/12 can screw things up, so i'm wondering if the open door will be an issue.

what kind of bulbs should i buy? keep in mind i dont want the electric bill to spike like a mofo.

well you're further along then I am...I grow in a closet and i vent the air by keepin in cracked. I cant be drillin holes in the wall n shit so thats my only method. As for lights go it depends on how much you wanna spend. I use cfl cuz im a broke bastard but thats just me. If you can afford a 250w or 400w hps then go for it, make sure you have a good vent system in there for the hps tho cuz from what I hear they can get pretty damn hot. If you can't afford anything now juz veg w/the cfls and then when you flower get an hps cuz you'll yield more.

i'm sticking to CFL, but dont know what exactly i should be buying as far as bulbs go. i havent gone into a store looking, so i really dont know whats out there.

how many lights do you have on your plant? and your closet isn't getting too hot?

so you'll yield more with hps? since i'm doing cfl, if i were to have higher wattage bulbs would that help with a greater yield?

As far as bulbs go make sure you pick up the 6500kfor the veg stage. They should be labeled as daylight or you should see 6500k on the package depending on what brand you get. When you start to flower use MAINLY 2700k bulbs which give off a reddish light. I have 6 lights on my 2 plants total. Originally before adding the 6500k cfls my space was 75 degreez and after adding the 6500k bulbs the temp went up to 80. And yes you'll yield more w/hps cuz it gives off much more light. Higher wattage bulbs are good juz make sure you get the right ones (6500k cfl for this stage). It would depending on how close the lights are and how efficiently you use them.

does the bulb size matter?
i have some normal sized soft white bulbs that are 25 watts, and i have a really small one thats 40 watts. small as in like 1 3/4th inches across.

looks like i gotta go out and find some daylight bulbs.

Well the more watts the better cuz that means more lumens..I could only find 26w daylight bulbs so thats what i got for now.

i just went to rite aid and checked out the light bulbs, but i'm not sure what to get.
there were plenty of soft white bulbs, but i couldn't find anything saying daylight anywhere. no color spectrums mentioned on anything.

but i did notice one thing. i found 26 watt soft whites that put out 1700 lumens.
and i also found some identical looking lights, no mention of soft white on the package, but they were also 26 watts but they put out 1750 lumens.
are those daylight?

I tried growing with cfl's but the light bulbs burn out way to easily I wasted 60.00 on 8 bulbs and everyone of them burned out with proper air circulations pfft waste of money.

Yo man, CFL's should last longer than any incandescent bulbs [which do NOT grow weed] and all HID bulbs. If your bulbs burned out that quickly then you were using a ballast that was not rated properley or something to that effect.

my plant showed signs of being a female all summer, than bam, it just started growing pollen sacks. so i killed it, and my buddy felt sorry and gave me one of his budding white widow crosses.

well since ive got it at 12/12 and with 5 26 watt CFLs, its growing little buds like mad. should i have the lights closer to the buds or the leaves? also, would it be a bad idea to trim a few of the leaves to let more light hit the bottom buds?

The cfl's should be about three inches from the buds. Trim only if before about 4 weeks into seeing buds. After about 4 weeks into budding, trimming can be bad.

Will this work?

Can I put two of these bulbs into this lamp using this adapter?

I am not sure about two things:
1) the lamp is rated for 200W incadescent; I know that a 65 watt CFL is equivalent to more than that in terms of light output, but for the fixture do I only need to worry about wattage, in which case I could safely put two 65 watt CFLs in there?

2) will those bulbs screw into that adapter? The bulb description mentions a "4U E-39 Mogul Base"... is that just a standard light bulb?

Also, since my grow space is very limited in height (about 3.5 feet), I am considering removing the reflector part of the lamp, and placing the fixture so that the bulbs are laying flat and then just fixing the reflector bowl on top of bulbs. Does that sound okay?
