4" or 5" net pots will work just fine.

You can drill small holes in the outside rim of the bucket and thread string through the holes. My plants are bushy enough, I dont need to lst, so I'm no expert.

Drill clean holes. De-burr the holes after you drill them to avoid leaks.

Am I missing something (I read this throughly many times), or did you not mention the use for the '1/2" Threaded PVC Adapter to Flexible Pipe (some times called funny fittings).'?

Yes, you might need a funny fitting to attach a hose to your drain or fill.
In this picture, I have a funny fitting attached to my ball valve:

I cant keep a funny fitting on the fill hole all the time because it does not have a valve on it.

Here is a bunch of funny fittings on my current setup:

not matter how long the roots are it stays 1 inch below the net pot?

When you top off, bring it up to 1" below the net pots. It's ok to let it fall 4" or so, as long as the roots touch the nutrient.

Day 39 of 12/12, I planted on Newyears day

New years day 2007:

48 days later:

This has been a fun grow. I have another 21 days to go. Above you can see a bit of over fert issues (cupping leaves), but nothing bad at all. I get the cupping leaves the day after I change out the nutrients for a new batch. I add a little water a few days later and they shine.

Thanks

Thanks Rumples for the killer post
I do have some more questions about how you are managing going from clones to buckets. Have you tried 1" rockwool cubes in a 2" net pot after propegation? I want to keep my starts in the 2" pots but then place them in the 5" after sexing. If not what method seems to work the best for the bubblers? I am currently trying to get a small bubbler set-up where I can propegate cuttings with pieces of foam. My large bubblers work flawlessly and I can't wait to get this other stuff narrowed down. Thanks again, Rumples

Rock-wool works great. I don't use it but I have in the past. I just use 2" net baskets with a neoprene disk to hold the cutting.

Problem with transplanting late is getting the roots out of the net basket. I transplant to the big net baskets when the roots are simple to pull out of the mesh. A few roots busting off wont hurt it. If you wait till flowering, then you will have to cut up the mesh basket to remove it (what a pain).
