Read the first few pages on this thread to get details on how it all comes together.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

man, I am lovin this thread. this weekend I'm making a trip to petco and home depot to get the supplies. already wrote up my shopping list.

i can't read through 51 pages, lol. i got about 4 pages through and then started to distract myself with some good old family guy. when i get some more weed i'll try to read some more.

this seems like the perfect system for me, because i'm pretty much limited to growing one plant.

do you think that two 24" 24 watt T5 fluorescent bulbs will be enough for one plant grown in a bubble bucket?

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

ok i tried to to understand but i still dont... do u just open the fill and drain valve, and fill and drain... or u use some kind of pump and a outside reservoir? and would the drip system modification to the buckets would be easier?

Ok, yeah I just read through it all again and I'm still not sure how you put the nutrients in through the fill hole. Can someone explain this for me please? Thank you.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Later on I started installing the fill connection to the lid. I use a small pond pump to fill. drain, and mix. The pump is outside the buckets. Look up Via Aqua or keep reading this thread from the start. It has all kinds of tips.

thanks, i'll read the rest of it bit by bit.

i just looked up ViaAqua water pumps, and i have one question. is that spout in the top for pouring water/nutrients in or what? i've never dealt with water pumps before, so i have no idea how they operate.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

No, the pump sits in a seperate vessel and you attach a hose to the pump to the fill valve.

Turn on the pump and viola, nutrient solution!

And for your lighting question, youll be able to get away with 2 24 watts for veg but your gonna need an HPS for flowering..

i would recommend a 400 watt, i was easily able to yeild a 1/4 lb with one plant in a bubble bucket so you should go for it too!

insidesun.com has a 400 watt complete system for 100 dollars and 10 for shipping.

Hope this helps....

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Yeah, like he said. Except you would get way more growth in veg if you used the 400W HPS. MH would be a bit better but the HPS works well for all stages of growth.

I used a small pond pump like this via aqua pump for a few years. they work fine and only cost around $16

I now have a high end pump that does the same thing (for more money)

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Can someone help me figure out what my ppm's should be (using Lucas Formula #2 ) (this is the link I got my info from http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/1654.htm) It doesn't specify when to use the TDS of .7 or .5, how do I know which one applies to me? I have 2 rooms, one has 400 metal halide ballast that also can be used as a high pressure sodium. The other room has a 600 high pressure sodium hortilux . Anyone???? TIA

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hey man i read that thing, i couldnt figure out what the 0.5 and 0.7 conversions were so i cant help ya there, wait for rump.

But rump, would you recommend lucas formula or AN's sensi two-part? I think i remember seeing you used AN at one point..

And did you use any additives with the lucas formula?

Thanks, peace

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

EC microsiemen:
0-8-16: 1894 µS

TDS @ 0.5 conversion:

0-8-16 = 947 ppm

TDS @ 0.7 conversion:
0-8-16 = 1326 ppm

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

I have only used General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients. I am not a great source for advice on nutrients, because of this. I never add anything to my nutrients other then what is listed in the Lucas formula.

man... i really can't afford to have a super high powered ventilation system for the little room this will be in. you sure i can't get away with those lights for flowering too? i'm going to be buying these high output ones from htgsupply: http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct...roductID=52661

it says 5,000 lumens per bulb... which i think is pretty good for 1 plant.

could i possibly get away with less watts on an hps if i absolutely have to use one? the grow room is only like 4 feet high.

p.s. i'm still not sure i understand... you need to have the waterpump submerged in a separate container in a nutrient solution, and turn it on when the bucket runs low? thanks.

p.p.s. i would be willing to dish out the extra money and get better lights, but what i'm saying is that i don't think it's realistic for the space i'm growing in. the plants already can only get around 3 feet tall, and with a super hot light fixture in there they would have to be farther away from it all the time.
