I don't know the answer. I can't get my self to spend more then a few bucks on an airstone. I am open to new ideas though.

Its takin this long to see any top growth, but now its on for some and wont be long till there all going wild, over an inch in one day from nothing for 3 weeks, the ones that are goin off do have some major roots though.
Seems my soil grew an inch a day for many weeks.

Computer, phone and camera are all having issues ATM but the cooler is working just fine.

Still using the T5s with my 1K hanging just above that with a HPS bulb in it,started looking for the right MH bulb for my fixture but stopped looking as i got discouraged with no growth for so long.

Now i will need to again look into which sized bulb envelope will fill my hydrofarm radiant 8" AC,the BT-37 is a standard 1K and the BT-56 is a bigger bulb which could fit/fill my fixture better.

Doing everything half ass for over 30 years and the death of the closest person to me kinda made me wake up and smell life,as life passes us by we get so cought up in saving and hurying that we seldom treat ourselves to what really makes us happy and before we know it were old and bairly saved enough to live the life we always thought we would once we got to that point in our lives where we could retire and start our lives.

We never thought we DID start our lives the day we were born,so why not live life to its fullest now,our lives started with or without us,im just participating now the best i can.

Makin a room to enjoy a hobby should be an option for everyone, they say size dont matter but i say it does.

If i had kids i would proly have a lil custom corner built in my garage for e few BBs.

I don't check TDS, I'm using the Lucas formula with water top-off.

Mine went from 400 to 600 now at 800 under T5s,soon going to HID and will find their sweet spot, proly 1100-1400PPM.

Re: feeds??

hey rump, i need to pick your brain as usual

i dont want to be a hard on or anything, but in a pm you sent me a week or two ago when i asked about lava rock in ebb n flow, you said lowes and home depot have cool trays already setup with a run off for water heaters i believe, would one of those be better than one of the black tubs to mix concrete in? and if so, are they around where the water heaters are?

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

They are located in the water heater section. I am not sure how high they need to be for that type of growing to be honest. But they look like the right height from pictures of other flood trays I have seen. I liked the mixing tubs as well (funny you should mention it).

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hey Rumple, are your plant's roots constantly submersed in your water/solution or do they flood/drain? Is this the reason for the airstones? My guess is thats why its called a bubble bucket. The reason why i ask is i think im gonna do ebb&flow 5gal buckets and was thinking should i have an airstone in each bucket or an irrigation pump in the rez? Or do i even need this considering when the pots drain back in to the reservoir gravity from the water draining pulls fresh air into the roots (advertised this way).

ANYONE FEEL FREE TO GIVE YOUR OPINIONS...

THANKS

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

The buckets have 3.5 glallons of nutrient in them at all times. Ebb and flow looks like a good choice.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Thanks again i feel the same way.. EBB&FLOW!!!!!! Do you think it is necessary to add airstones to each bucket? Maybe an irragation pump to the rez? Is any any one of these necessary?

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

How much would you estimate all the material cost? Is this set-up as easy as just adding water, or do you have to get really into it, with PH levels and all? Thanks. (Ima super new grower if ya cant tell)

usually hydro is little more complicated and less forgiving than soil. This means you have to maintain a stable nute ppm,ph and water temp by keeping a close eye on your crop and making necessary adjustments often at first or you can lose your crop in the matter of hours/day. Once you get ur ph, feed, and everything else down packed it can be very rewarding!

Rumple only uses a PH meter IIRC and the Lucus system which if followed right has great results,i use a chiller and both online meters to keep all maitenance to a minimum, and i use R/O feed by a float so all i do is watch them grow and add a lil nute or PH down every 2-6 days.
