thankyou for this thread rumple. I've devoured the whole thing and i'm a first time grower and it was extremely helpful. I am more of a shroom person but i've mastered that art and fell in love with the concept of being a self sufficient drug user. So i decided to give this a go. I"m not a seller and am only growing one plant but i do have a few questions on how i might go about this if you don't mind. I apologize if you answered any of these questions but it's a long thread and my brain is on overload from reading the whole thing.

I have a custom built plywood cabinet with a computer fan at the back top and a carbon filter on the outside of that. I have a hole twice the size of the computer fan at the bottom for fresh air intake. I'm using a extension cord light with Y branches so that i have 4 60w cfl bulbs on it(i know these arent' the best but for a single plant grow it was the cheapest). And i have your bubble bucket design with micro and flora formula and grodan cubes.

SO, i'm well aware of the lucas method and that's what i'm using but i'm a bit confused on how to start. I soaked a cube and put 3 seeds in it so that i have a better chance to get a female(only room for 1 plant) and i can kill the other two when i can see sex. Is this going to work or will they kill themselves by proximity? Also, i have the cube in a plastic cup with saran wrap over it to keep moisture in and was going to move it to the basket when i could see roots poking through the bottom. Is that proper procedure or am i missing something? I've read all up on stressing and cutting and the actual growth of the plant but i've had a hard time finding these simple beginning steps laid out for me. I'm not sure if i am supposed to have the bottom of the cube hitting the top of my buckets water level or when i should do that...etc. Any help with these nubie questions will be appreciated and thankyou for this wonderful thread.

well your right on one thing, there's only room for one plant! you should do 1 seed per cube, its best to start the seeds in a dampishwet (not drenched) paper towel folded in half with your seeds in it, then place the paper towl in a sealed container (even a plastic bag) and check it once a day for taproots, once you see a taproot place the seed into your rockwool or w/e with the tap root down, be veery careful, don't break it.

then keep your rock wool or w/e damp not soaked and let the plant grow

you want the top of your rockwool near the top of your basket's hydrotron level, and the water level at the bottom of the basket.

trust me, its easier than you'd think, these guys Want to grow, you just have to lend a hand ocationaly

thanks for the quick reply i had previously done the damp towel thing but ended up with a seed wanting to grow before i had everything else in place so i had to toss it. I'll start it up that way again.

also, can i do tap water for the damp towel part without nuts or does that hinder it's future potential?

1 rooted seed per rockwool cube, the cubes need to be soaked in PH ballanced water before use (I dont remeber if its 5.5 PH or something, but i supose 7.0 would work)

1 plant per cube, you can sex them then vege again if you want, I'd suggest veging all 3 and taking clones (good practice) and flower the clones to find sex out. then kill what ever is weakest.

personaly i think if you got room to grow one, you got room to grow two

hehe thanks, the cab i built really only fits one bucket comfortable and i don't want to diverge from that because i know how potent a plant smells when in bloom. I'll realign my beginning and i really appreciate the help. I'll toss some picks of my plants when they become beautiful

oh yeah, dont worry about the water for the folded paper towl, "drinking water" is fine.

So I was looking throughout the grow journals today, and I noticed something. Pretty much every DIYer is using the bubble bucket. It seems that if you're on GC and you aren't going soil or using a pre-fabricated grow cab/box, you're using the bubble bucket. Exact design and setup as demonstrated here in this tutorial. Now while I feel like the results are thanks enough, I wanted to take the time to come on here and give credit where credit's due.

First, Rump...I'm using the bubble bucket for my first time. This setup is so simple that a first time hydro'er has a plant in his closet that looks like an experienced grower has been tending it from the beginning (that first time hydro'er is me, thanks). The directions along with pictures that you laid on in this thread couldn't be any simpler and easy to follow. I know I (along with many others) have sent you various PMs regarding the bucket, and you've always responded promptly. I know you hear this all the time, but you're one of the best growers on this sight and one of the most helpful as well. Thanks from me and I'm sure the rest of GC for all the time you've found, outside of your own life, to help us out.

Second, Mord...Mord I know that you've modeled alot of what you do off of Rump's designs, but you perfect these techniques faster than anyone I've ever seen. And on top of that, you're as helpful as Rump in terms of getting on threads and giving helpful advice and returning those pesky PMs that I'm sure you get every day. When I move into my house next year, the first thing I'm doing is putting together my recirculating DWC system, thanks to you. So if it needs to be said, thanks to you as well. Plus, your gf is smokin ass hott from what I've seen.

All in all, we need more people to help out the noobs in crisis situations. Thanks guys, and thanks to the countless others who have given me helpful advice since and before I joined this sight.

im new at this I was reading around but theres still some things I dont understand number 1. when using a bubble basket where do you put the seeds?
2. do my seed have to be grown in soil first?

these might be dumb questions but i never done this before.

if you read the first 20 pages of this thread you will be well on your way. you put the seeds most anywhere where they will grow, and then inside the netpot. not inside the bucket. i wouldnt germinate anything without a whole lot more knowledge on the matter. just read through the stickies!!

Kal, that shot of the shrooms brings me back to my teen years. I ate a whole sack at Disneyland and never laughed so f'n hard in my whole life. One of the best times in my life.

Thanks for the help with this thread amnesiac and Mord. I have been burning it at both ends the last 10 days or so.

Amnesiac...... What the hell are you feeding that monster! That thing is super fat and phat. My god, hold on, that thing will split the bucket in half. Very nice work. I love to seem them that happy. Hydro at it's best.
