Just wanted to tell you I just had my first harvest from my bubbler system. My system is made from a square 90L basin. I put 3 plants in the prototype but I will put 2 in my next one.
I had good results and got around 85-90grams dry bud from each plant. That's around 3 ounces per plant.
The plants became bigger than I had expected so I think 2 in a system is a better number.
I'm aiming to get 150gr. per plant after I've learned my system and tweaked it a bit.
For example I think I need bigger airpumps and I didn't use any CO2 for my first run.
The plants grew ridiculously fast at first but the last 2-3 weeks things slowed down. And my buds didn't become as fat and compact I had hoped when I saw how fast my plants were growing.
When I harvested I noticed that the roots looked fine but were a bit yellow. Couldn't that be because of lack of oxygen?

How big air pumps do you use for each bucket? I was using a 2x200 liter pumps so each plant only had 130L/h, that's about 35 gallons per hour of air. Are you still using the small blue air stones or did you find something better?

But all in all I'm very pleased with my results but of course like a good grower aim for perfection
I'll take some photos of my next run and post here.

And btw. I made a mini bubbler system out of seperate 1 gallon buckets to veg my plants. So when I harvest I will have plants ready for flowering That means harvest every 8 weeks or so for me
I will start my next grow beginning of december so I'll post some photos of my X-mas trees when they start to grow

Cheers.
Good job on your harvest. I use 60 gallon or bigger air pumps. Any air stone will work, but I like the 2" disks now.

LOL YES, you are the perfect person to, your results are so exact every time that we finally would know what was worth its salt. and you never know, maybe you can get 15 jars next time lol

I got my sentinel going last night, i was amazed to find out ambient CO2 here is 580PPM and during rush hour it seemed to hit 790ppm. its a heavy urban area near many major interstates that are huge parking lots come rush hour for 4-5 hours. so i am slightly enriched already lol.

i also got CAP's 400/600watt ballast in the mail today so i will let you guys know how it is.

You will need a PH meter/tester. Make sure to spend more then $25 dollars on one (buy a good one). You can't grow in hydro without a ph meter/tester.

Get some PH calibration solution (7 and 4). If you want your tester to last you might want to get some storage solution as well.

Buy a bottle of General Hydroponics PH up and a bottle of PH down. A long eye dropper is a good tool to use when adding PH up or down.

Get some Measuring Syringes (the smaller one fits in the bottle better then the real big one)

I feed my plants using the Lucas Formula. It calls for General Hydroponic brand nutrients. Buy a bottle of General Hydroponics Flora Micro and Flora Bloom (micro is black and bloom is red in color). Don't buy the Flora Grow. You have to get them online (ebay is good) or at a hydro store. I buy everything online (nothing illegal about it.)

General Hydroponics Flora Series Feeding Strategy - Lucas Formula

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle (24/0)
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

The numbers above indicate the number of milliliters (ml/cc) of Flora Grow, Flora Micro or Flora Bloom formulas that I use in one gallon (US Liquid) of nutrients.

You will notice I dont use any of the "Flora Growformula, do not need to, the "Flora Micro" provides plenty of Nitrogen.

1. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected water solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. After adding back an amount of water equal to the amount of your reservoir capacity you should change the reservoir and put in fresh solution.

How to use the Lucase formula in my bucket?
I will give an example step by step.

Vegetative cycle (first stage of growth when the lights are on 24 hours a day):

My bucket's fill point is at 3.5 gallons. So I need to measure 3.5 gallons of pure water (distilled or reverse osmosis) into an empty bucket (not your bubble bucket, just a clean bucket).
The formula calls for 5cc of Flora Micro per gallon (5x3.5=17.5cc). So I add 17.5cc of the Micro to my bucket of water. Stirr it in good.
Next the formula calls for 10cc of Flora Bloom per gallon (10x3.5=35cc). So I add 35cc of bloom and stirr.
Always add the nutrients seperate. Never mix them together before stirring them into the water.

PH....... Your PH needs to be between 5.7 and 6.2. Test your nutrient. Add your adjustment solution in small amounts until you know how strong the stuff is. Mine take 5 full eye droppers of PH up to get my target PH of 6.0
Yours will not be the same. Depends on the water.

Flowering Cycle (lights on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours).

Same as above except a bit more nutrient.
8cc of micro per gallon (8x3.5=28cc).
16cc of Bloom per gallon (16x3.5=56cc)

They sell paint buckets that are clear and have measurments on the side. Good tip.

Any questions?
Rump: You seem to trust in Lucas so much but you are still using/promoting his old formula.

I know you know it has changed, are you just of the opinion if it's not broke don't fix it?

Your veg should be able to tolerate the Lucas recommended 0-8-16 for HID's just like you use for Flowering.

BTW he made this change about two years ago IIRC.

Rump:Im replacing my burner with a bottle and reg ASAP.

My local hydro shop sells a standard reg @$150 and the twin tank reg for @250 and a bottle for $150.

IIRC you said something about exchanging bottles(losing a shinny new one for an old beater)and buying one for as little as $25 and a reg somewhere for like $75?

I cant see spending $400 when i can find it for $100,any info/links would be great.

my local hydro shop charges about that too, i went to a local gas company (look for ones that sell welding gas, look under welding supply stuff in the yellow pages) welco is the one near here, i got a 20 pound tank for like $90 and i exchange them for $20, my hydro shop charges $45 for a 20lb refill.

i am interested in Hydro Innovations Minigen though, it has a small 1200btu burner and is easily water cooled with just a reservoir or a small chiller. its $299, fully electronic ignition, tip switch, overheat switch, gas sensor, etc. plus its like 10 inchesx8inchesx7 inches, its so tiny and can be mounted directly on a wall. i am keeping an eye on it.

i cant wait to see how much better my sentinel co2 controller makes my co2 setup work.

It will keep your ppms where you want unless you vent, which it then saves the gas and watches the temps as well.
Most controllers work as advertised.

I found the same,i dont mind spending the $150 on a new aluminum tank.

$20 local to fill and they will fill "my" tank,no exchanges there.

Lots of choices for regs though, there giving me a Burner refund so i will just use the store credit because they didn't have to refund me a dime.

wow nice deal, i forgot to mention actually that i can only exchange at my local gas company. the hydro store exchanges too but will only take their tanks which are all like new, but the price as mentioned is high.

where did you find that filled? a gas company? are they nation wide?

yeah i am going to be venting in my new tent setup because i dont have an a/c. so the sentinel is the only way for me to really do it. although the local highways are enriching me to over 700ppm during rush hours!

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Just wanted to send RF a shout out. I built 3 buckets mostly just to build something. I was bored waiting for my last grow to finish and thought what the hell lets try this next. I inserted two northern lights and one unknown lanky Sativa in buckets. After 20 days of veg I flipped thee lights and these plants just took off. That was nine weeks ago. Both northern lights have been harvested. I had pictures and sim card died leaving me with nothing. But Dried weight was just over 13 oz ( 369 grams) of dank bud. The third plant is now in week 9 and still going. Over 7 feet tall if standing upright ( i have her tied down to screen to keep her in check) and covered in light fluffy buds. I hope they tighten up in the next couple of weeks. This plant looks like it wants to keep growing. Anyway since then I have bought a new sim card for camera and took a couple pics of plant still in bucket and some dry bud shoots of northenr lights.

These buckets have been awesome Rumple and I just wanted to say Thanks. You rock man.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

ok i am going to try to get my 2 confirmed girls in buckets under control. they grew into the light and alot of foilage got burned one day when i fell asleep and didnt do my nightly check. i wnat to see if i can get them in a new grow area with a screen. is it possible to get my two, 6ft plants into a screen like yours rumple? they are veg only so i can trim like crazy i guess. or should i just flower them normally and then wait to the next run to add the screen?

also what is the best material to use for the screen and where to get it? does rumple have a "how to build a screen" how to yet? lol
