Little early but this one's for you Rumple!
5.9oz's wet off the first early bird. Trying to let the other one mature more.
This is the most herb I've ever owned. Couldn't have done it so easily without this tutorial!
Thanks again!

good question, i am using seeds found in the same way, in batches of awesome bud. but they were surely almost definitely sinsimellia crops that should not have seeds? also if they do, could they be from an unfound hermie? if so, the seeds would only be able to produce hermies and females only i think.

Haha,
I thought I was gonna hear it for weighing them with stems on!

I'll get a weight when dry and stemless. Pretty excited though man, thanks a ton!

I never would have thought my first harvest would have looked like that Owe it all to you!
Thanks for making it such a memorable first go. Will probably never forget that.

Don't forget to pay our Rumple tax of one full jar from your first harvest. You think I don't this stuff for free?!
Just kidding.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

I get lots of questions about growing supplies and nutrients. Here is the answer I give most of the time:

You will need a PH meter/tester. Make sure to spend more then $25 dollars on one (buy a good one). You can't grow in hydro without a ph meter/tester.

Get some PH calibration solution (7 and 4). If you want your tester to last you might want to get some storage solution as well.

Buy a bottle of General Hydroponics PH up and a bottle of PH down. A long eye dropper is a good tool to use when adding PH up or down.

Get some Measuring Syringes (the smaller one fits in the bottle better then the real big one)

I feed my plants using the Lucas Formula. It calls for General Hydroponic brand nutrients. Buy a bottle of General Hydroponics Flora Micro and Flora Bloom (micro is black and bloom is red in color). Don't buy the Flora Grow. You have to get them online (ebay is good) or at a hydro store. I buy everything online (nothing illegal about it.)

General Hydroponics Flora Series Feeding Strategy - Lucas Formula

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegetative cycle (24/0)
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

The numbers above indicate the number of milliliters (ml/cc) of Flora Grow, Flora Micro or Flora Bloom formulas that I use in one gallon (US Liquid) of nutrients.

You will notice I dont use any of the "Flora Growformula, do not need to, the "Flora Micro" provides plenty of Nitrogen.

1. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected water solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. After adding back an amount of water equal to the amount of your reservoir capacity you should change the reservoir and put in fresh solution.

How to use the Lucase formula in my bucket?
I will give an example step by step.

Vegetative cycle (first stage of growth when the lights are on 24 hours a day):

My bucket's fill point is at 3.5 gallons. So I need to measure 3.5 gallons of pure water (distilled or reverse osmosis) into an empty bucket (not your bubble bucket, just a clean bucket).
The formula calls for 5cc of Flora Micro per gallon (5x3.5=17.5cc). So I add 17.5cc of the Micro to my bucket of water. Stirr it in good.
Next the formula calls for 10cc of Flora Bloom per gallon (10x3.5=35cc). So I add 35cc of bloom and stirr.
Always add the nutrients seperate. Never mix them together before stirring them into the water.

PH....... Your PH needs to be between 5.7 and 6.2. Test your nutrient. Add your adjustment solution in small amounts until you know how strong the stuff is. Mine take 5 full eye droppers of PH up to get my target PH of 6.0
Yours will not be the same. Depends on the water.

Flowering Cycle (lights on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours).

Same as above except a bit more nutrient.
8cc of micro per gallon (8x3.5=28cc).
16cc of Bloom per gallon (16x3.5=56cc)

They sell paint buckets that are clear and have measurments on the side. Good tip.

Any questions?

"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime! "

I'd gladly pay a jar for what I have learned. The info was worth it, undoubtedly.

Now I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with a sentinel (was that was it was called) in a room with constant fans 24/7.

Also, when chaining buckets together, just a hose from bucket to bucket along the bottom is all that is required to get a reservoir type action going on? Like if I Drain the res it drains the other buckets if all the hoses and fitting are connecting to the bottoms of the buckets like you show in that 3 bucket diagram?

That is correct. You will have to add another drain valve to your reservoir bucket. But you only need one sight indicator for the whole chain.

You can use a black bucket instead of using aluminum tape.

wow, i probably will but i need to read it again and take it in lol.

i currently use all advanced nutrients in my blooming system and fox farms in my veg buckets. but i planned on switcing to all advanced nutrients when the fox farms ran out. seems like your system could save me alot of money.

i love my syringe too, i use a grodan needle instead of the tube, but i am going to switch to a tube now. i dont really need the needle/

you seen the sure to gro medium yet? wonder if it could work for our buckets. my local store is getting it in soon. i am not sure how it works, know it replaces rockwool and pebbles, but it looks like it holds the water too and fills the whole bucket, that wouldnt for us i guess.

The sure to grow seems pretty cool, I see it being used in my local store. They make little germ cubes that insert into larger blocks. You can get blocks that fit in 10 and 6 inch baskets so you don't need hydroton. The only thing is, they aren't re-usable, which isn't a great deal since they are cheaper than hydroton. I just wonder if they will hold larger plants as they don't weigh very much.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hey Rump!
Thanx for all the info you have contributed on the forum

Just wanted to tell you I just had my first harvest from my bubbler system. My system is made from a square 90L basin. I put 3 plants in the prototype but I will put 2 in my next one.
I had good results and got around 85-90grams dry bud from each plant. That's around 3 ounces per plant.
The plants became bigger than I had expected so I think 2 in a system is a better number.
I'm aiming to get 150gr. per plant after I've learned my system and tweaked it a bit.
For example I think I need bigger airpumps and I didn't use any CO2 for my first run.
The plants grew ridiculously fast at first but the last 2-3 weeks things slowed down. And my buds didn't become as fat and compact I had hoped when I saw how fast my plants were growing.
When I harvested I noticed that the roots looked fine but were a bit yellow. Couldn't that be because of lack of oxygen?

How big air pumps do you use for each bucket? I was using a 2x200 liter pumps so each plant only had 130L/h, that's about 35 gallons per hour of air. Are you still using the small blue air stones or did you find something better?

But all in all I'm very pleased with my results but of course like a good grower aim for perfection
I'll take some photos of my next run and post here.

And btw. I made a mini bubbler system out of seperate 1 gallon buckets to veg my plants. So when I harvest I will have plants ready for flowering That means harvest every 8 weeks or so for me
I will start my next grow beginning of december so I'll post some photos of my X-mas trees when they start to grow

Cheers.
