The problem I see is after sexing there will be allot of root mass,if you kill one or two males the roots will die which may cause issues as they break down like bad bactiria and pH swings.

I would have three smaller holes in another lid to sex then add the female to another single hole lid, swap the lil basket to another larger one and fill the voids with HT.

This is indeed correct. I am doing the same thing but using GH coolbloom and Humbolt honey hydro in addition, during bloom.

I don't see how it could possibly be harmful. Its made from 95% old tupperware, so unless regular tupperware plastic has BPA in it?

I doubt its any worse than a bucket as far as BPA's.

I found these at walmart, i got the 18 gallon in brown but this one is not light proof at all. the larger sizes are maybe thicker? i puit a flash light in it with it upside down in a dark room and it lit up like a jack-o-lantern.

i found a 18 gallon recycle plastic, blue color at lowes for $3.50 that is light proof and i just finished building it and will post pictures later. now i need sleep, been up all night finishing this thing!

i found those bubble strips at a local pet store, i also got the discs but these seemed even better for this container.

23 sprayers on the pvc fixture. i would have liked to have 3 - 5 more but it sprays the bottom of the buckets quite well as is. i put a bag around the filter but modified it so i could still use the suction cups. i added the water level indicator on the side so i could make it taller. i added the drain on the front.

my lid is 6 x 4 inch net pots.

the last picture shows how nicely the extra gromets i had worked. plus the airline is going through a existing hole in the container from the factory, it fit nicely. its all water proof, even the pump ac cord.

the aeroponics sprayers will do what they can as long as they can, if they fail, it will function as DWC only and i will increase the water level. but since this is for sexing out my clones, i doubt the root masses will get so huge that the sprayers will all fail.

what do you think? questions? suggestions? comments?

ps. any idea on how to attach those air stone strips to the bottom or anchor them? i dont want to use any glues if possible. they like to float all over the place.

Looks like you did a great job there, that much detail shows me you are in touch with this hobby for sure.

The clogging will also come from a micro growth which I find is nearly eliminated with a solution under 70F.

That's why I like the weighted air disks.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

This is a thread i frequent regularly and I guess it's time I post up my setup as well.

I started off with a makeshift room out of pandafilm in my attic. Ended up doing 5 bubble buckets and grew 1 white widow, 1 purple kush, and 3 sour diesel x bubba kush. I ended up with 13.5oz dry even with head and spider mite issues. Needless to say, the bb work really well, not bad for my first time growing.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

So after that grow I decided to do something bigger and better. I decided to convert part of my garage into a grow room. There was already a makeshift room in there, so I finished it off right. The dimensions are 9x5.5x7'. The equipment i have consists of:

2 x 600w HPS Lights (Lumatek digital ballasts, Hortilux bulbs, air cooled)
1 x 8" Valueline inline fan
8 x Bubble Buckets
1 x 80w Econoline Air Pump
1 x Centinnel CHHC-1 Environmental Controller
1 x Dehumidifier
1 x Window AC Unit
1 x 20lb CO2 tank

The room is completely sealed and therefore the use of the co2 tank was implemented. Here are some pics.

Before

After putting in the base for the floor and the pop up walls

Back of the room after sheathing. With 8" ducts and 8" inline fan to cool the lights

Side view of the room. Window a/c unit to cool the room. That door leads to my veg/prep room where I keep my cuttings, clones, and moms as well as all my nutes.

8 Bubble Buckets set up with the dehumidifier on the side

2 x 600w Lights

I scrogged half the room and let the other 4 plants grow naturally. The two strains under this are Green Crack and DJ Short True Blueberry

Mom's in the back and clones in the front.

I'd like to hear your take on my setup, Rumple. Also, you stated before that you used one 20lb tank of co2 per grow in your room. Considering the size of my room 9x5.5x7, it wouldn't be out of hand for me to use about 4 tanks through the grow, would it? And I am still amazed at how you can get huge colas like you do. I don't know if it's the strains, but I was not able to get any large colas, just really tight nugs with the scrog. With my other 4 plant that I allowed to grow naturally (outside of topping), I am able to get colas almost 12" long and 2" in diameter. Any input?

Hey Rumple. Thanks for the thread! I just built 4 buckets and on every one of them the drain is leaking. The other 3 nodes all hold great, just that one. Can anyone help?

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

We just went through this with a guy a few posts back. The answer is always the same. Sand out the hole. Inside the hole and both sides of the bucket. The fitting should fit into the hole smooth. Tight fits seem to leak more often.
