I dont install the plant into the bubble bucket until I see roots coming out of the rockwool.

This is from your harvest thread. I do not believe you ever answered this guy's 2nd question, but I do think it is a good one.

I would have to say that picture looks to be day 15 of flowering. Below is a picture of day one of flowering:

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Rumpleforeskin, you are the man. I had a passing thought a few weeks ago that I might like to grow, but I've never done it at all. After reading this entire thread, and shopping all over town and the internet, I've got 2 alaskan ice seedlings from which I'll pick the healthiest one and transplant to the bucket in the next few days. I'm in a 3.5x3.5 closet, w/ 400w mh & hps, lined w/ mylar, 2 fans and all that.

Had it not been for your thread, I probably never would have tried.

The two things that I'm concerned about are that my closet is only about 6.5 feet tall because of a shelf that's installed at that height. I know that all strains are different, and that conditions in grow rooms differ so much that it might be hard to say, but what do you think is the best height to begin flowering if I don't want it to shoot all the way to the roof? Yeild isn't that much of a concern because it's strictly for personal use.

The other thing was ventilation, I started to worry and shop around for carbon scrubbers, but I didn't want to punch a hole in the wall or buy a door. Then I found in the top of the closet, on the wall, a piece of heavy cardboard or something used to cover a hole that looks like it was intended to ventilate the closet at sometime in the past. So I think I already have an exhaust, maybe?

Anyway, thanks a million man. I've seen 100 people say that to you already, but you really might not know the impact you have on the lives of people who are passionate about this plant.

If yield isn't a concern and it's for personal use I'd go for soil not hydro. Better smoke and you don't really need to invest in anything.

Hydro is mostly just for a higher yield.

Thats what it's all about, you just made it all worth while. Thanks for sitting down and writing that post to me.

See if that shelf is too much to remove. Wood, drywall and paint are very simple things to fix. Seems like your thinking on your feet already by your discription of possible vents. Every home is different, you will have to find the best method that works for you.

The advantage of hydro is higher annual yeild or faster harvest. Soil can yeild as much but it will take more time.

Thumbs up Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Rumpleforskin is GRASSCITY'S weed guru
Rumpleforskin and his bubble bucket thread is one of the most knowledgeable threads on this site. All the answers for growing medicine is in it. Rumpleforskin (RF) has helped so many people with growing and I feel he is a great asset to this site.

A guru (Sanskrit: गुरु, Bengali: গুরু) is a person who is regarded as having great knowledge, wisdom and authority in a certain area, and uses it to guide others. The word comes from Sanskrit Gu, darkness, and Ru, light (prakash); literally a preceptor who shows others knowledge (light) and destroys ignorance (darkness).

I vote that Rumpleforskin should have his own thread just for answering questions......I don't think it's proper to go post in the Bubblebucket thread when the question has nothing to do with bb's.

My first question is " How do you feel about the Quantum ballast that offers dimming, or are you just a lumatek man"??????

Dirty

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Am I to understand that when I start switching the light to 12/12 that the plant will quadruple in size throughout flowering? Or am I completely misunderstanding the pics above? I kept thinking I need to let it get 4 feet high before I start 12/12, but would that result in a massive plant unable to be hidden in a closet?

I am new also, but to my understanding yes. The plant will grow exponentially more after flowering.

Growth during flowering is called stretch. The amount your plant will stretch will depend on a vast number of factors. Things like plant DNS (strain), lighting, and nutrients are only a few things that will effect stretch. I go from less then 1.5' to 4.5 feet in 60 days of flowering. My stretch is more then normal due to CO2 enrichment (my best guess).

Most folks will tell you to switch your lights to flowering when you have reached 50% of your target harvest height. After your first harvest you should have a good idea how much stretch to expect.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hi Rumple, was wondering if you are still going to do a step by step for harvesting with your latest plant?

As a matter of fact, I just got through taking that last photos for that. I will be posting it some time today or tomarrow if I feel like typing my ass off.

Single plant harvest that is dried and ready for jars.

It's pretty simple. I don't do this on a larger scale because of an allergy. I am extremely allergic to anal sex (being done to me).

Freedom is kinda important.
