I'm in design stages for my new/next system and I'm using your blue prints
I'm looking @ Bulk head fittins for the drain/fill connections instead of your O-ring PVC connectors.
Do you have any experience or thoughts on these Ebb & flo fittins or these links?

ever think about adding uv bulb? supposed to make more resin production or some nonsense.. but seems you have no problem with that.

Great step by step. i dont know much about growing hydro. around how long does it take for the plant to be fullly grown?

Hey Rumple,

First off, thanks for all the great posts I learned a bunch.

I am going to have a 3.5' by 2' grow room similar to yours, with just one or two 5 gal. bucket(s) and a 12 gal. resevior underneath them. Yeild is my biggest concern. I figured more plants more harvest, but after reading your posts I have been thinking of growing only one plant instead of two. I know you cant weigh your yield, but what would you suggest one or two plants?

I'll be growing dutch passion skunk #1 (mostly sativa) with scrog

Also, I am really want to purchase a 6" can fan blower. I am going to be living with roommates (who are ok with the grow of course) will it be too loud coming from a closet? I saw you bought a muffler, does it work well?

Try two and see if they are cramped. You will know for sure after your first harvest.

The exhaust muffler did at most 20% reduction in noise. I installed a carbon filter in it's place and that in it's self reduced the noise more then the muffler. I can't tell if it will make too much noise. If it does then go to plan "B" and relocate it or insolate it.

It's harvest day today. Going to cut it down later tonight:

Single plant grow. No CO2 on this harvest, The valve broke on me before flowering (just got the new one).

Depends on the target harvest height of your grow operation and the strain you want to grow.

I like fish tank bulkhead fittings better then the ones at the hydro shops. I like it to be threaded. Lets me choose how I wont to plumb it. I can pick PVC or tubing if it's threaded rather then just a male tubing adapter sticking out.

I will have to check out those carbon filters. My roommates and i only have a one year rental so i will just have to wing it, I will probably do two and try and work some magic with the scrog. Thanks for the help!

Yo Rump, I was just wondering what your method for germinating from seed is and how high you keep your lights at this time. Thanks.

Its been years sense I grew from seed. I used a wet paper towel in a cup that was in a dark place.

I keep most the tops within 16"

Hey Rump, is that unit to the left of your BB is the chiller? Also, when you say 16 inches from the tops, does that include when the seedling is a small sprout. I have read that too much light when the plant is very young can hurt it. I was just wondering how high your lights would be kept during this growth stage. I would rather take your advice than anybody else.

Good point. My rooted clone gets a bit more space. I give it another 6" until it grows into the correct zone. So I set the hood about 22" above the clone and allow it to get around 16" from the bulb before I start thinking about a light move.

That is a dehumidafier. I use it during the winter/cold months. It make lots of heat, so it will be removed on my next cycle.
