Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

ok i thot that was it, jsut that urs pic was different from thiers so i wanted to make sure iod be getn teh right one, dont want to order he wrong one by accident. when picking my wattage for it when it says 250/120(+117) does that mean that i can use a bulb ne where from 250 w to 120 w plus the thing itself is 117 w or that its for a 250 w bulb and uses ne where from 120 w to 250 w for the 250 w bulb and also 117 w to run it.?

sorry if that sounds confusing.

i guess what im asking is can i use a bulb thats thats less then 250w for the 250/120(+117)

also it says "NOTE: Daystar AC , Radiant 8 and Cool Tube reflectors come with free lamp cord, socket set and safety glass. No need to order them separately."

does this mean that if i order the cool tube i get the cord and socket for free so realy all i need to order is this 250/120(+117) and the cool tube?

sorry again. but thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

You got it wrong. 250Watt, 120Volt. They make most grow lights in 120 and 200 volt. Normal plugs are 120. No matter what size ballast you choose, you will want to get the 120volt one.

I thought you wanted the 400Watt? Why are you looking at the 250 now? I like to run about 100Watts per plant. The 250watt can grow up to 3 plants, but a 400Watt will give better coverage and can grow four or five plants real good.

I would call and ask about the cord set 301-490-9236 or
1-866-MD-HYDRO

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hey Rumple,

no im not using the 400w, im only doing 1 plant thats why i asked if i could put a smaller bulb then 250w in the 250w set. i only plan on using between 100 and 150w bulb for my 1 plant grow and then after a couple grows when im more familiar and experience with it im gunna upgrade to 400 and do 2 plants like you. also i live in canada im havin a little trouble finding what i need and them to be able to send to canada.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Hi Rump, wanted to post my bubble bucket, I'm also running a waterfarm like you had suggested and that one is really taking off now. The DIY bubble bucket has pretty good roots down into the water already, so it seems to be doing fine as well. I had a question about the lucas formula, I've had a light mixture of their first nutes (RO water) in there for about 1.5 weeks now and just topping off with ph'ed RO water. They really aren't drinking very fast, so i was wondering should I still wait until I've replaced the full resevoir ( 2 gallons in my case ) with water or should I replace it sooner than that, since they are not drinking very fast at this stage. I'm using a truncheon and the EC is low but staying stable, it rises very little in the waterfarm every 3 days or so, but once I add water, goes back to where it was. Very low nutes, EC around .2-.3. Reason I'm asking is because I do add ph down every daily as the ph rises in both buckets slowly. Is it better to replace the water with fresh nutes before getting to the point where I've added back 2 gallons of ph'ed water or should I change the tank out with fresh nutes earlier? I'm not adding a ton of ph down, but it adds up in there I guess. Thanks.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

By the way thanks for posting that lumatek special at Maryland Hydro, that's a great deal. And to confirm, I called Maryland and asked about the cool tube coming with the cord set and they said that it does, so that deal you posted is $25 cheaper, since you don't need the cord set with the cool tube. Thanks for posting that, it's the best deal I've seen. I'll be using that as my flowering light!

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

I have ordered a ton of stuff from Maryland Hydroponics. They have the worst website I have seen, but the best prices and service around. They replaced a 2 year old ballast without a receipt and sent the replacement before I sent the broken one back. Funny thing is, they have a new website with higher prices then the messed up one. I only order from the messed up one.

SlippySlappy, my plants don't drink at all during veg and the first few weeks of flowering. I get a break from making buckets of nutrients. I do "water add-back" and never measure EC. I only change the nutrients when I have added back the amount of the bucket or switch cycle.

One tip I can give for your grow is: PH going down means the nutrient is a bit too strong and PH going up mean "please add more food". You might want to add a bit more nutrient next time you change out. Every plant is different.

Sorry, the answer is no you can't. A 250 bulb will do one plant real good.

Re: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step*

Thanks, that's good to know, that's nice you don't have to mess with nutes all through veg and into the first part of flowering! With DWC/Drip systems, if an overfert situation ever happens, do you have to flush the entire system, run plain ph'ed water for awhile and then back to nutes, OR if it's caught right away, can you just readjust it, by draining some water out of it and just adding back some plain PH'ed water into the mix reducing the ec level?

I also had a question about using the cool tube, since that has it's own fan pulling air from the outside, through the tube and back out, how often does another fan need to evacuate the room? I won't be using CO2 in my first grow room and I'll be evacuating with one fan and just passive air intakes. Does that evacuation occur equally during light and dark times? I will also have 2 small fans running in there at all times, size of room is about 3x3x6. I don't anticipate temps with a 400w to be too much of an issue. The air temp outside the grow room is always under 70. Thanks again for all the info, the roots in my dwc are going nuts, fun to watch!!
