flowering young plants to see sex?

ok, so if i have a plant can i put it into flowering early in it's life to check sex and then bring it back into veg without causing problems?

I'd like to hear any information i can on this cuz i'd like to just grow plants to about the 3rd branch, check sex then kill the males and finish growing my females.. does this cause any bud loss? any hermies?

Can it be done or will it kill the plant?

I tried searching the forum but found nothing, any help is appreciated.

Ya it can be done, it stress the plants, but I like to do it when I grow from seed. IMO it's much better for growers with little space and takes out the extra work involved gin growing males.

When you flip the lights to check sex, right when they show sex, start them back on veg right away. The farther they go into flowering, the more stress it causes. I think smknvtech just sexed his plants in his led grow thread. check that out

Just put a paper bag over one of the limb's on each of your plants to simulate 12/12 for a week or 2. Check it daily for the start of flowers, and as soon as you see what the sex is. Stop putting the paper bag on the limb. This way you dont need to sex the entire plant, just one branch.

You could take a clone from each plant wait about a week and put them into flowering. If your growing from seed they should be like 6weeks old before you flower so i dont know how far along your plants are but the clone should still show sex before 6 weeks. Im only on my first grow i have done my homework but maybe some one can varify if clones from a plant les than 6 weeks can flower properly and not give you hermies
