second grow attempt. couple questions

ok so a couple months ago i tried growing some white widow seeds in a tupperware box, but when I moved about 5 weeks in to the grow they all were killed. I have completely moved myself into my new home, and I am trying a second grow, this time just in a closet. I have included a picture of my little operation. and I just wanted some feedback on it if seemed do-able. The wood piece on the floor is 4'x2', but i think I am going to put in another floorboard next to it that will be 4'x1.5'. so basically the whole grow area is 4' by 3.5'. I have 6 seedlings that I just planted in 8oz cups, with 4 more seeds germinating right now. all of the seeds are feminized, so I am hoping to grow ten plants. my first question is do you think that is enough space for ten indica plants? my next question is about lighting. I currently am using just 1 400w hps light. I also have 4 23w (but supposedly equal to 100w) compact flourescent lights that I plan on using in addition to the hps light when the plants get a little bit bigger. Is this going to be enough light for 10 indica plants? the humidity is 50% right now, and the temperature seems to be staying at a steady 83 degrees. I have a box fan blowing on the plant cups at all time for ventilation. Well that's all the information I can think of right now. do you know why the plants died last time?no worries! ....It is possible to get the same total yield from less plants. simplify=success!! Pick the the best 5 and train them. Overcrowding cuts down on how much light is getting to each bud.. you might fit 10 clones but seed grown plants have to gett a little bigger before flowering. good work.

that space should be enough to fit in 10 plants, i do believe you will need to use those 4 23W CFL's when you go into flowering.

I would like to know how many lumens your HPS Bulb outputs, i'd say if your around the 50,000-60,000 lumens area you should be able to grow 10 plants decently but this depends on how big you want these plants

monitor the temp, maybe put a bit of mylar up possibly, i've heard better results with mylar than white painted walls, gotta watch the heat

yea the mylar is great, light bounces around and the whole area lights up with no shadows, just like being outside at noon on a sunny day. Oh, I would only grow 3-4 plants and train the hell out of them to increase your weight. That way you will have 2-3 grows or a replacement grow if unforscene circumstances require you to abort.

ok so it;s been about 2 1/2 weeks since i began this grow, but because I ended up having to transplant a couple times, the plants have been shocked a coupled times, and They're not all growing super fast. Also about half of the plants I currently have are only about a week old, and two of the plants that I have are like 3 and a half weeks. My first question is do you think that because all of the plants are all at different stages I'll still be able to time triggering of the flowering so that they can all bud at the same time?

Also I have another problem. I realized also that I was using MiracleGrow soil, and I think that fucked my little girls about a little too. As soon as i realized the soil problem I went out and got some organic potting soil and transplanted them. The thing is they were in the miracle grow soil for a dew days, and so some of the plants have turned yellow on the leaf tips, and on one of the plants the tips are yellow, and then brownish on the very very edge. Do you think they will turn out ok? I didnt really flush the soil, but when I transplanted them I brought in the littlest amount of miracle grow soil as I could with them. I'm putting pictures up too just for the hell of it. Thanks for the responses and thanks for checking out the thread.
