I know they are recommended but i have 1 400 hps with 1 plant under it on 24/24 and i would like to put my germ cups making a dome over each 1 with some clear plastic cups under the 400 about 80 ml / 3' away.

Can i do this or do they realy need the white spectrum to start veggin well?

Does this apply to clones & beans the same?

Theyll grow fine with just the hps.flouros arent needed but it has a better spectrum for vegging.

Anyone know if there is another 400w bulb that i could use with the hood & ballast i have that would give the right spectrum? The grow shop here does't have anything other than hps.

Before i had 1 cab w/400w hps and another w/floro's. Now i have 2 closets both running 400hps my floro's were not giving a good lum/heat ratio using 8 18w tubes it was getting hotter than my 400w with a cooltube and just didn't seem to give enough lums.

you can get a mh conversion bulb which is better then flouros.It works in the hps ballast.Check insidesun.com or discounthydro.com

Cool i checked these out but i am in Europe they are in the states so i did alot of other searchin for European grow shops found loads but none of them sell conversion bulbs.

Anyone know if that is something to do with the 220 volt system here and if i buy a conversion bulb from the states will it work over here?

So i have done some research and found out here they are using combo bulbs not conversion.

If i got a SON-T AGRO 400 would that be the best or are there better ones?

And could i clone & germ under it?

I want to do this since i have 1 plant in veg some beans in cups and i want to cut some clones off the one veggin and it would be really cool to use that would be wasted light from the 400 for all these babies.

But if it isn't gonna give good results i don't want to do it so has anyone ever tried it.

The son-t has added spectrums of blue in it, which does make it a better choice then a standard hps. And yes you could clone and germ under it. You will get good results doing it too. You'd just get better with floros/cfls due to the spectrum and how close you can have them. But that is a very good bulb and it will do great work. I don't know if the add blue helps later in flowering but it can't hurt. Good luck with your grow.

Think this time round i will clone and germ with the SON-T AGRO (seems such a waste that little girl in there on her own) just picked one up at the local shop looking foward to a happy & healthy grow
