Pruning, Flowering etc...

Ok, so this is my first grow...i let it grow naturally, no pruning or anything...my question is, how many fan leaves can you hack off before the plant suffers?? can you cut them all off?? cause my plant is like 34 inches tall and i'm going to start 12/12 later today...it's on 14/10 right now....i have it under 92W of fluoros, but i want the bud sites to get as much light as possible, and some of the fan leaves at the top are about the same size as my hand...and the fingers are fat...so they create somewhat of an umbrella, so can i remove these or will it shock or kill my plant??

you should not prune during flowering, the fanleafs provide most of the water for the buds and thats where they emerge above each fanleaf stem.

a 3 ft tall plant will also need a lot more than just 92 watts of flourescents.

well, it's more of a "tree" really....like the stem is empty for about 10-12 inches of the plant...lol, if you saw my other posts i had some problems with random dying leaves when it was younger, so only about 2/3 to 1/2 of the plant actually has healthy growth, but i wanna add some more lights anyway...i'm thinking of adding another 4 23W bulbs to my setup...but about the fan leaves, they shade some of the lower bud sites due to the fact that it's growing strait up, should i add the new lights to the sides of my grow space?? so 92W on top and 46W on either side??

if you need more light to lower buds you can TUCK your leaves behind other leaves or you could even tie them down so that they arent blocking light. i use the stretchy stuff out of socks rap it in the middle of the string then tape it down to the pot.. this also good for positiong bud sites where you want them so that they get good light

I would have to recomend a better light too cuz my roommate tried flowering with floros... i think he only had 75 watts total and it hermied in the final stages!!!

I'm actually going to be running 10 23W bulbs, 2 on each short side of my grow box, and six up top, and maybe 2 vertical UV tubes in opposite corners...so 230W should be sufficient for 1 plant, shouldn't it??

yes enough, you have 2 choices.

Use the UVB lamp during veg if you want a short branchy plant, dont use it if you want a taller plant.

during flowering use it for sure, and even one of those is suffiecient, you dont want too much uvb.

Here is a good read for you.

Well, i'm not even sure about the UV tubes yet...i'm looking at UV cold cathodes, but i'm not sure if they emit UV-B or not...
