Mercury vapor or CFL?

Which one would be more beneficial? I'm just wondering because I noticed that mercury vapor lights are very cheap. I found one 175watt fixture for 30$ so...just wondering which one of the two choices would be a better investment.

From reading around here, I heard mv bulbs give off mercury. And guess by that.. that isnt very healthy for your plants. But then again I could be wrong.

No, it thats its not healthy for anything, it wotn give off mercury unless its broekn, and even if mercury did leak you would know because your light wouldnt go on. However, if it does break the vapors cause irreversible brain damage, to what degree? i have no idea, its just what ive read. But inahaling a metal cant be good no matter what.

But no a working mercury light can do no harm. Its only if it cracks that your completely screwed.

Do NOT use MV lights. They are no good because they get too hot which means that you have to keep them far away from the plant which means a steap lumen drop off; totally pointless. Just use CFL's, MH's, HPS's or LED's; nothing else.
