Issues with this forum.
I know I have not been around as long as some of the other people who would and should claim superiority. That being said I want to voice some of my opinions and issues I have with this forum.
I know a lot of people have been trying to do the same recently but I think some of their claims, all be it poorly worded have some truth to them. This forum was really cool for about the first month and then you start to notice that the forum is usually just a bunch of posts that have repeated by another user with a few posts that may or may not have any substance but usually ends up being rather pointless. Part of the reason this is such an issue is because the search function on this forum is very inaccurate and you never end up finding what you want to find. That is something, that is unfortunate because of the forum you chose to use but it is something that causes a lot of unnecessary posts. You should look in to some sort of improved search function or maybe even switch forums to one with a better search protocol. Then all of a sudden a lot of new people joined in the months of February and March and started to give off a really weird vibe. Eventually I just stopped visiting this site after a while there was nothing new or interesting being posted and usually it is just a clone post that has about 10 other similar posts 2-3 pages back. I think I am going to stop coming to the city for a while I might check in everyone in a while with all the moderators acting in a way I don’t agree with, people being dicks, and repeat posts this forum has nothing for me anymore. Maybe if the shop was useful to me I would visit more often but I order one thing and played almost 75% of the cost of the product in shipping and ended up waiting a month and a half to get my product when I ended up finding the exact same thing for cheaper then the cost of the city and here locally. If you have head shops in your area the shop is just not a good place to get stuff because you pay so much with shipping, and prices are kind of high also without shipping included in the first place. Not to mention it takes such a long time to get your product. The forum was the main draw to this site and it is just different now, unfriendly, and repetitive posts have made me loose interest. Indian Toker and RFMJL I hate to say it but you did kind of go on a power trip I know it’s you job to watch over this forum but remember it is a forum and nothing more, you seem to crack down on things that should have some leniency while you are so lenient towards things that you should crack down on. You should think about changing the way you run the forum because the direction it is heading now is one that I would rather not partake in. You said it has been around d since 2000 but that does not mean if will always be around if you keep running the forum how you run it now. I know a lot of people have been making posts about how the have issues with these forums recently, I felt the need to make one also but I want it to be known that I don’t approve of the way some said people have gone about voicing their issues with this forum. After all it is your forum and you can run it anyway you see fit, it might just be that I am not the kind of person that would mesh well with this particular forum. So it was fun while it lasted, I might check back but for now goodbye. Oh yea I am not a “The Joint Forum” fanboi I am not even a member. I think that forum has some a*shole members.

 I don't drop by here enough to check every single post but I agree with you I see alot of things posted here which I believed should just be deleted on the spot, but of course it lingers. No forum can be perfect. Anywhere you go where there is a large community forum there will be the crowd of positive input aswell as a crowd of bad apples. Perhaps people switch over between groups over time but it's just the way it is. peace Also, upon my first visit to The Joint the first things I noticed, pretty much the only things I saw, were threads related to stupid shit, such as people looking for GC accounts to fuck with people on this board. Rather mature, eh? I don't know if it's a back and forth kind of thing but why PM me an invite to the board when it looks like some stoner Honda forum?

as far as forums go, i think GC is one of the best. you hardly ever see anyone acting a prick, and if you do they're swiftly banned.
it's generally a very friendly forum. i don't post as much as i used to, and i tend to only come here now for the News forum. but it's still one of my favourite forums to visit

Not to burst your bubble guys, but your complaints have been around since I joined the forum. The problem is A.) we're stoners, and a lot of people are too lazy to use the search or to go through the results and B.) this place is huge, and so there will always be new members that fill up the place with a shitload of posts about nothing. Like, and I mean no offence by this Bob, but you proabably have more posts than I do and I've been on this site for a lot longer, it's just I'm really picky about what I choose to post or respond to. I've been coming to the city for a long time, and I'll probably keep coming because it gives me a place to talk about the stuff I love with some people I've come to feel I know. But... this is a forum, which means open ideas, and as long as there are newbies who want to know how long everyone else has been smoking or what you use to smoke, those questions will keep popping up, especially in this forum. If you look at General or Pandora's Box you may find more interesting things to respond to.
And as for the Joint forum, I joined since there were quite a few people over there that I knew from GC, but half the time I'm afraid to click on links or open posts cause I'm really not a fan or dead bodies or other women's boobs. And I think the rivalry is stupid, since if you are so against GC, just start your own forum and forget about this place, don't try to "get back" at another forum. Geesh, this has gotten childish. So anyway, sorry for the long response but I finally felt I had to say something. I've gone on other forums like Overgrow, and I keep coming back here because there are people here that feel like my stoner family. And to you guys, you rock. And to everyone else, you're entitled to your own opinions, but think hard about what you really can change and what you can't, and how much some random newb posts on a pot forum affect your life.

The joint forum has some real jerks in their ranks; I don’t care for some of the posts there especially the porn ones. The need to come back here and cause trouble is childish and uncalled for. So you did not work in this forum move on and get over it. I mean it is a forum anyway how big of a deal should you make out of it. I also think that they should reorganize the way that the category of the forums I think if they broke it out in to better sections we would get less repeat posts. A lot of posts get piled in to one forum and get lost with in a few days. If they broke the forum up in to sections about pipe, weed, smoking methods, surveys and stuff like that it would be a lot easier to find information.

Newb ForuM??
Im a newb here and yes i think i have made a thread on one of those noob questions you all are talking about... So maybe a "Newb Questions" forum would be helpful?? Ive seen it on some other forums i visit (not for smoking) and it works out really well, people who have the time to answer the questions do go in there and answer them... Also they are very welcoming to newbs and you usually dont need to feel afraid to post, or feel that you are being a nuisance...

Appalled, I don't think his post count should really be an issue unless he isn't contributing to threads and GrassCity overall. If he has been adding to our City (Like seasoning in a large bowl of vegetable soup), once more, it should not be an issue. In fact, as long as someone isn't spamming all over the place and actually putting into this forum what they are getting (Which in my opinion should be information on marijuana, others opinions and feelings on marijuana, and general friendship and kindness) then it shouldn't be a problem.
As for this forum: I haven't been here long enough to see annual trends in posting, or have the ability to compare what it is now to the way it was this time last year. I simply can't do it. I still love coming to this forum just as I did the first day I came. Now, granted, a lot of time in the past three months I have come here looking for something interesting to read and it just wasn't there for me, but I get with it the next day and see if there is anythign worth my time. And yes, the search function isn't that great, but also, if you're bored with whats on the forum at that moment, you can type a word like "Munchies" in the search bar and you can read about munchies for hours on end if you really wanted to. I get irritated with "I'm s4o STones" posts, but I have low tolerance for that kind of activity. It feels as if they want to prove to us that they are SO stoned that they don't know what they're doing, when in all reality, people come on this forum stoned all the time and you wouldn't be able to guess it. These kinds of threads, these complaint threads, aren't really so bad in my opinion. It's what we do as humans, really. We see what's wrong and we try to fix it and make it better, but unless we all get some more unity going on then it will be a while longer before you see real progress here -- I think we all want to see progress. We all want to see the city thrive, see a city that we love coming to, a city where we have a few buddies that we get excited about when they're posting. It's fun to have chemistry with other users, and not everyone will be on the same page, but things can, and will, change, for better or for worse. Let's try to take the right step and make it better, if we don't we run the risk of making it stale or we run the risk of making this place hell. I have been practicing a politeness since I have been here, I am rarely rude to users, I always try to contribute, and I believe that everyone wants to feel that they are this way, and many of us are. We just have to keep out the negativity with our positivity -- we don't need to fight fire with fire. Have you any thoughts?

Yeah, GC is the best forum i've ever been on. And if your gonna complain about it being unorganized. Dont post concerns on the Rec Smoking area... not to be a dick but its true.
