Unhappy Is there any way we can completely remove useless/argumentative/meaningless threads

i mean there are a lot of threads that i have seen lately that are just a bunch of bickering between people until the thread gets closed

(i can post some examples if you like)

instead of closing the thread cant we just get rid of them comepletly?
what good is it to have them up there

wouldnt it be great if all the useless threads were gone and all that were left were interesting threads with good information and quality

i think it would really improve the city drastically.

this would require a lot of work and i know the mods do a lot already but maybe there could be a way that we could nominate a thread for deleation so that the mods would have to look through every thread one by one, they would only see the bad ones

--dont get me wrong i love the city and all you mods are doing a great job especially RMJL but I lwould love to see this happen soon

Threads in the wrong forum, I'd say completely delete. Fuck moving them. Never gets the point across.

The rest, I'unno. Sometimes they have to be closed, even when 90% of what was going on was good conversation, and then like two people fucked it all over. I think it's too much of a thread-specific problem to just say delete them all instead of closing them, ye know?

I've always thought this too.. it's not like it hasn't been said enough

I've never had an issue with closing threads vs deleting them completely, the closed threads end up floating to the bottomless digital chasm, usually never to be seen again.

edit: also, there are some fucking classic threads that are closed, love 'em or hate 'em. FadetoBlack's dream house comes to mind

We've tried the whole "deletion of closed threads" thing and people complained like crazy. Of course, someone's going to always complain about something...some people thrive off of complaining. There's really no need to delete them unless we have to for liability. As said, they float to the bottom.

We delete useless/pointless threads but determining whether a thread is useless/pointless is where the problem is. I find MANY threads useless/pointless but others may not. It has to do with perception and with moderating, you have to be careful to not delete what you don't like.

We could hit the City full force and get rid of all of the "crap" but I can guarantee that there would be an immediate uproar if we did. Guaranteed! I've been here long enough to know that.
