What's with the semi-thumbs in the photo albums?

What's up with the photo album section these days?

When I upload a pic, I start with 3000x2300 pixels, which gets downsized by this forum to 1280x960.
At least that what it says right below the pics, but when I click the thumb and click the picture that follows I get this silly little popup window something like 640x320 in size.

What happend to the good old days where one could watch the photos full screen?
I agree 3000x2300 is a bit too much, but a nice full screen picture should be possible I think.
Now best I get is something that covers maybe 1/4 of my desktop and I'm running at 1024x768 so that pretty much standard desktop size, or maybe even sub-standard these days.

What's up with that?
It's 2008 for crying out loud, we all have super turbo kickass computers and multi megapixels cameras and we're forced to watch semi-thumbnail pics in standard VGA format?
What's next? back to 8 bit color?
Come on GC, 1 terabyte of storage is only 200-300 euros these days!
Any mods care to reply?

Not a mod but I have an idea. If 1 terabyte really is ONLY 200-300 euros and YOUR having such an issue with the images then why don't YOU hook SJ up with the cheese to pay for your big pictures.

A 500G drive (1/2 a TB) is only 99 euros these days.

And I only use less then 100 MB on this forum.
Thats 1 TB divided by 10.000.
So that's worth around 2 or 3 cent.
GC might as well install a click me banner for 2 or 3 cent per user.
Lets 10 fold that so I can go posting pics for another 10 years.
Throw in a banner and nobody has to pay jack.
How many hits did GC get from my 1890 post?
Shit dude if they get their shit straight they'd be making money of off guys like me who attract people onto the website because of additional content.

And 1 more thing.
Their own database statistics only add up to a few GB.
So does their photo gallery statistics.
Assuming their own statistics are correct, this whole forum pictures and all could fit on a 10 GB disk.
That's 1% of a 1 TB so 2 or 3 euros worth of storage.
How can that be a problem?

OMFG!
I figured out a way to circumvent that little thumbnail I talked about!!!!!

When you click on a thumb in a post, you go to that users gallery.
If you left click on the picture on the next page you get the silly little thumbnail popup,

but if you right click and then select open in new window it will go full screen again!

We may rejoice!
