I do kinda think the GC logo up top looks a bit strange being smaller and farther from the corner, but it's still neat lookin'. I dig it the design in general.

That's just my personal opinion anyway.

How much white space are you guys talking about? I, too, only see about a centimeter on each side. I don't have to scroll or anything. My resolution is at 1024x768.

my resolution is 1440x900 and theres a good three inches on either side that are blank. Heres a screencapture to show why some of us find it so annoying...

I like it. I would like it more if it actually filled my screen like GC did before. Please, make it stretch for people with a resolution not from 2003. On a side note, could we have a darker theme for those of us who do not like bright lights?

Other then the above mentioned issues I do like the new direction.

Is this on widescreen monitors?

I can definitely see now how that'd be a little annoying.

Could just be something they're workin' on fixing though.

yea it is junkie, along with it being one of the smaller resolution widescreen monitors so that means there are people with even more wasted space.

meh I don't expect SJ to change it, after building websites myself, I know that he'd basicly have to redo the entire layout and table structure code which would be too much effort for how many people actually use widescreens (probably 15-30%). I would love it if it was eventually created and was an option in the user cp to change from standard to widescreen layouts. Widescreens will probably be the standard by 2010, so they shouldn't be ignored all together.

true. on a widescreen monitor this layout has huge white side bars.
- offer widescreen/fullscreen versions
- just make it widescreen, its 2008...

(both my laptop monitor and stand alone monitor are both widescreen)

very top right welcome/info bar has lettering that exceeds the box size.
- adjust the size of the bar
- adjust the size of the font

Junkie doesn't have the issue and she is on 1024x768 and according to our stats, which were probably taken into consideration, 59.70% of our users are on 1024x768.

I think we should all get used to it. I don't really like making my window smaller to get rid of the space but it is what it is.

i assume you run windows...
right click on your desktop
select properties
go to the settings tab
use the screen resolution slider to increase your resolution to your liking

Damn right. Junkie doesn't have a problem, so none of you have a problem either. Got it? Good. I don't want to have to resort to violence or wedgies or anything.

The problem is the aspect ratio, I have a widescreen and have it on a 16:10 aspect ratio (1920x1200) and have lots of room on the sides, for those of use with out widescreen... (junkiedays) dont have the problem.

I dont like having all the extra space on the screen either.

Are you sure you are right clicking the correct place? Make sure you right click on the desktop (not on an icon or open page, on your desktop background).
