This forum requires that you wait 30 seconds between searches. Please try again in 4 seconds.

I think the serach feature is important to any forum so threads don't become redundant... but waiting before one can search again is slightly annoying. Can someone explain why this is?

Yes. Every time you do a search, there's a database query that's stored in RAM. Depending on how efficient the queries are and the configuration of their web server these queries are stored for a specified period of time then expire and are freed from memory making room for more queries. During peak hours too many search requests can overload the hardware capabilities and bring GC to it's knees.
