I want to buy some saffron bulbs and grow them with a 14w red and blue led panel with 2 part red and 1 part blue. I also want to grow some outside. Will the panels work? Has anyone grown it before? How much do you get per flower?

14 watts doesn't sound like it will penetrate the canopy very well if at all. As for your flower are you talking about how much weight you pull per colla? Yields vary based on how it was grown how much you stressed it lighting ph I mean it goes on and on it's like asking which sperm cell actually impregnated a woman. How the hell should we know? Haha but in all seriousness most indoor personal grows yield about a QP it's possible to get more but it's all based on skill. Best of luck to you!

Quarter pound? It's worth more than gold in weight! I just want to know a bit from an experienced grower as the best way to grow them.

 I am tuned in with ya! The flowers are pretty so could go just about anywhere to bring a pop of color. We only grow things that put out. ;) so this would be a great two for deal. I see why it is so expensive now though, it is very space and labor intensive with just getting the little strings out of the center.

Hah, stoner :-)

Saffron is a flower that is grown for its stigmas (three per flower). And a QP per harvest would make you a rich, rich, man.

Maybe there's a strain of Mary called saffron? Sounds delicious.

 QP

Yeah, about 12 stigmas per plant possible, ideal conditions.

13,125 individual estimated stigmas per oz.

There is a reason it is so expensive.
