I have this small plastic storage bin with a clear lid that I wanna use for starting my veggie seedlings. Is there anything I need to do to modify it so it can be used as a greenhouse such as...drilling holes for air...keeping the lid locked or not locked down. The size of the container is 15qt. It's about 6 in deep and 19 in long and 12 in wide. Any suggestions?

Holes are fine. If you want to be crafty rig an old cell phone charger to a PC fan for air exchange.

Watch temps, get a $1 one from Wally.

At the end of the day a potting soil isn't about amendments, it isn't about aeration amendments (as to which one) - the only thing that makes a soil viable or not is the humus source. The best Sphagnum peat moss, hand-filitered glacial rock dust, virgin neem meal, blah, blah, blah can't fix bad humus.

Put drain holes in the bottom
If the pots sit in standing water chances are you'll rot out your seeds
Thinking is for the gloopy ones and the oomny ones use, like, inspiration and what Bog sends...

What about just being outside? Will that do the trick...my lights are tied up in another project right now and no room in my growbox.

OUTSIDE SHOULD BE FINE,,, AS LONG AS IT ISNT COLD WHERE YOU ARE AT,,,,

warmth helps any seed to germinate.

Outside is fine
But keep an eye on the temp
A small sealed plastic box in the sun will heat up fast
Seedlings like heat
But you don't want to cook them
If they're wilty chances are it's to hot for them

Good Luck

I've been told to don't put them in direct sunlight for too long - it might just burn the seeds. I keep mine on a table by a window that is covered by thin curtains so they get a lot of light but not too much direct sun.

You wanna use something that is clear all around and you need holes for air circulation. Other than that, you should be good.

BTW, you can make a greeenhouse outta glad wrap if you really wanted to.

It honestly worked good for the mj but nothing else sprouted. I kinda gave up on it for now. Been busy working outside getting everything built for my outdoor garden.

Oh yes you are absolutely right. I definitely make green house out glad wrap. Thanks for your nice suggestion. You really got me relief from this kind of confusion.

I will try to making green house for seeding but the problem is that that will be direct sunlight effecting on all seeds. I am wondering that if I am shifting then may be its not growing. Do You have nay suggestion for that to solve this problem?
