Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

The game is an INCREDIBLE value too, its length and replay value or so extensive that you'll definitely get your moneys worth... in this slow economic times it is a game that you can literally get months of enjoyment out of.

I mean, holy shit, you have the option of killing so many different people you meet... but then you're sitting here wondering "WTF, maybe that person will be helpful later on? Argh what to do?!?"

Obviously going to make a character at some point that just kills EVERYONE s/he can.

I'm happy with the way they handled the special preorder items. You must pay for most of them, and they have attribute requirements. My warrior can;'t even use the blood dragon plate yet.

Yeah the pre-order items are great, nothing really powerful, but some items that can provide an interesting twist especially to the early game experience.

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

Damn... I rented the game a couple hours ago and my xbox is now fucked and I can't play it

I'm gonna try and fix it tonite and hopefully get playing by tommorow, i'll probably roll an elf mage, I always found magic to be more fun in fantasy RPGs, although i'm liking the look of the rogue too

I could never be able to play a mage more than a few levels I always ended up re-rolling a rogue/warrior.

Thanks for all the info looks like I will be getting the PS3 version, I was thinking about getting the PS3 version because of a torrent I found but realized my laptop cannot handle it.

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

I picked up this game yesterday not knowing much about it, and honestly, this game is amazing. Right from the start I felt like I was immersed into the story and the lore, hell, i wasn't even stoned. I'm absolutely loving this game so far and I highly recommend this game for anyone that's willing to give it a shot

So now that I'm a couple hours in I have to recommend this one. Definitely buy it for PC if you can because it's clearly designed to be played with a mouse and keyboard. Kind of refreshing to have a multi-platform game that you can tell was built for the PC gamers first and foremost.

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

runs great on my machine on the highest settings, but it also likes to start flickering after 30 minutes or so. Pretty fucking irritating. Updating to some beta drivers to see if that'll fix it, otherwise they had better address it in the first patch.

seems fun. I miss the days of baldurs gate

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

Holy shit.

Won't add any spoilers... just going to say that it took me 14 fucking minutes to beat a full grown dragon.

This game is so amazing.

Palmer, your graphics card might be overheating. Any way you can clear out dust or improve the cooling of your CPU would probably help

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

well yeah, thats just general maintenance. I've got stable temps too.
I found that alt-tabbing out and in fixes the flicker. It works well enough for now.

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

Truth be told I haven't had any issues with the game, except one time it CTD'd when I changed areas., though I'm fairly sure that was a hardware glitch and not the game itself.

I have an nvidia GPU and a creative labs soundblaster sound card. Anyone who has had both knows what kind of bullcrap you have to deal with, they don't get along for some reason.

Re: unOfficial Dragon Age: Origins post release thread

I still don't see how this is always compared to baulder's gate.

Way too linear for my RPG tastes. I like to run around and explore. Not too much of that here.

Not saying it's a bad game. It's definitely enjoyable, just not what I would call the ultimate RPG.
