| Party Chat Rumored to be Limited in Modern Warfare 2
Infinity Ward may be taking steps to block one of the more commonly used methods of Xbox Live multiplayer cheating, according to a post on NeoGAF. It shows off a blurry screenshot (below), which reads: "This multiplayer session requires that you be in the game chat channel. If you don't switch, you can't play. Switch to the game chat channel now?" The implication, obviously, is that at least some of the multiplayer game types won't let you have private chats with your buddies. This is solidly in rumor territory for now, but it's a move that makes sense for the game. It's bound to cause some complaints among those who just legitimately like talking to their friends, but the Party Chat feature has also been used by some savvy players to continue talking strategy when the game would mute them. A dead player, for example, could give away the location of the enemy that just killed him without waiting to respawn. Given how seriously people take the multiplayer aspect of Modern Warfare, it makes sense to level the playing field.  Thoughts? I think this is some major bullshit! I love chatting with friends online but I hate chatting through games because it's full of assholes and stupid fans.

It would suck if they do implement it. I dont want to have to try and hear my friends over the blathering idiots and 12 year olds that populate xbox live.

Understandable. Probably won't do it in TDM but i bet they'll be doing it in SnD.

My guess is if they do it, it will only be in SnD or other no-respawn modes. And TBH, that doesn't look like a real message, the way it is worded sounds too nice(its not a hard thing to photo either), it just doesn't seem like the way IW would word it...

This isn't a rumour.... I'm not 100% but I think the only game types you can party chat in are Team Deathmatch, Free for All and 3rd Person gametypes. What a stupid decision, people care more about being able to speak to their friends whilst playing than someone exploiting the chat system to gain an advantage on rare occassions. |

It might happen, but that screenshot is not how its gonna happen. The text seems to "childish" if that makes sense. I don't think they would word it "If you don't switch, you can't play"....
