Moderate vs Excellent Video Games [essay]

Got an assignment to make a list distinguishing excellence from mediocrity in a certain subject. Of course I chose video games. So I got some ideas myself after playing video games for years, but I wanna hear your guys' too.

What seperates decent videogames from the super dank video games?

A decent video game is something that entertains you and is enjoyable to play.

An excellent video game absorbs you into its story, its characters, and its world. An excellent video game will make you think and will also bring out emotions from you in say a climactic battle. An excellent video game is so rich in plot that it could be adapted into a novel or a movie. An excellent video game is addicting - you can't put it down, much like a good book.

I would say Super Mario 64 is an excellent and classic game. regardless of its simple story its replayable i think many many times, huge worlds and gameplay and originality is busting from the seams.

Halo 3 is an excellent game, only cuz the multiplayer is really well defined and fun as hell, well updated and such, the only time i dont play it is when i play it too much, then i end up goin back to it. but the actual singleplayer not as excellent, but still fun as hell.

Oddworld Strangers Wrath is almost the most original game i ever played, also excellent. you play as this gguy who is like a cowboy character wise, who carries a crossbow that shoots live ammunition. like a skunk smells bad and makes enemies stop and start puking, the chipmunk gets peopls attention wherever you shoot it, the bees are the machine gun bullets, this spider thing hurts people and wraps em up in web, this other bug is filled with electricity and opens doors and activates shit, and also is infinite and hurts peeps. the story is also hella interestin about this travelin stranger who is a bounty hunter, who wants money to get some surgery that he needs, and also you save these mini chickens and little salamander people who have there own cities and enemies. each guy you bounty hunt is some crazy boss which is always some random creature with a special ability and a funny voice. there is puzzles and shit. Oddworld Strangers Wrath is prolly my all time favorite game, from xbox one, still has clean and nice graphics, classic.

this immediately brings to mind the last part of call of duty 4 where most people die, aswell as the nuke strike that takes out the americans.

Look at the Metal Gear series to be able to show how high a bar can be set for a videogame. Back on the PS1 when Metal Gear Solid came out, there was absolutely nothing like it out there, nothing that could transcend from video game to artwork like MGS did.

Moderate games are cool and as a great way to pass time.

Excellent games remove my need for food, sleep, bathrooms, or friends (unless it's an online game). You are part of the game.
